Let's hope trade and stocks pick up again once the troubles with Acadia and Fraesia are solved.

Military Suppresses Women, but for Different Reason

A new Act was passed earlier this morning relating to all branches of the Military, stating that Females are barred from any combat roles in the Folland Armed Forces. The initial reaction came with outrage. Womens groups were quick to call infringement on Womens rights, however a speech made by Chancellor Moen himself quieted the opposition as he was seen on national television in tears.

I know many of you are upset over this, recent Act. I am in no way hindering a Woman's right to be a Man's equal... (Chancellor took a pause to gather his thoughts.) I was informed three days ago that, my niece, Corporal Leah Desiree Moen was, killed in action while on tour in Malo. (The reporters were silent as he took another pause.) I want to save family from hearing this, tragic news about their sisters, daughters, cousins, friends. The women of this country are our future, for many reasons. I will do anything to safeguard them. (Chancellor Moen then walked away from the podium.)

The act was called, the Leah Moen Act of 2012.

Crises looms over East Althena

The recent developments in Nilia and Albian have caught the attention of many nations around the world as Communist forces from Guangji push north, taking border towns. The Folland government remains unsure of what to do as they continue to watch what's unfolding.

Euphemian Powers Come Together

Following a proposal by Chancellor Moen, the governments of Shayden and Acadia have joined Folland in forming the Euphemian Bloc, an Economic, Technological, and Military Alliance of Euphemian peoples in order to enhance friendship and unity throughout the continent. This comes as a pleasant surprise about Acadia's willingness to join when comparing it to their past tensions with Folland over Fraesia. A new dawn may be breaking over Euphemia.

Ummm when one of your family members die from combat, isn't it more fitting if we dedicate more for the person who died, you know, for their honour and service?

Well it's pretty sad

That women's part is very interesting. Razz Zhung better stay out of the Nilia thing or Acadia will have to do something about it. You should add the Euphemian Bloc to the alliances in Euphemia. (Remove SDAO, this can replace it.)

Euphemian Bloc Sparks Opposition

Following the days of the Euphemian Bloc's announcement and the news that Shayden and Acadia readily joined sparked widespread opposition from right wing conservatives. stating the need to keep Folland's individuality intact. Representatives of the Chancellor have made statements trying to calm the populace and state the benefits of a united alliance of Euphemian powers, but the government's recent actions to unify the nations may be pushing these opposing groups too far.

Crises in Nilia has International Effects

Hearing of Ghuangji's military intrusion into Nilia & Albian ushered in a wave of activity from Folland's hidden Communist Party. President Mark Stassen of the Communisty Party has already made a statement on both public media sites and their personal website, claiming the "-downtrodden times of the Ghuangji people is at an end." And has gone on to elaborate that this event will help "-usher in a new era for Communism-". The current Folland administration is watching this carefully.

Uther & Trell Releases Concepts

Aerospace Juggernauts, Uther & Trell Aeronautics have released their near future concepts of a Vertical Take of and Landing Aircraft that have stripped the need for Rotors, instead giving the vehicles thrusters that, in roughly the same sense as jet engines, propel the Aircraft off the ground. Recent breakthroughs in energy and propulsion sciences have made concepts like this applicable and in reach. The first prototype may not be constructed for a while though, but the future is already looking a bit different.

Elections Abound

Since the Chancellor is still in office for another couple of years, Folland's media services are instead focusing on Elections in neighboring nations. Kaskaskia and Marqualis have begun heating up their Elections while Fraesia begins to reform their own government after the Acadian/Fraesian war ended. It's a safe idea to assume that Folland's government is interested in who wins the elections in these countries, but haven't made official statements of who they back. However based on their current ideals and policies, this News Provider's opinion states that Folland may be backing the Socialist party in Marqualis, Damian Carmicheal of the Kaskaskian Liberal Party in Kaskaskia, and supports Édouard Deserres of the Fraesian International Cooperation Party for obvious reasons.

I guess I haven't explained enough. Basically, Alexander Johnson (Blagojevich) is the liberal candidate who is the current president, but he could be blamed for not doing enough to prevent the Fraesian War. Matt Randall (Romney) is the conservative candidate who is very rich.

Breaking News

Chancellor Moen has issued a command to the Folland Navy, ordering a task force to relieve the nation of Nilia as soon as possible. After word of continued invasion by Communist forces and the displacement of millions of Nilians, a fleet of 17 vessels have set sail across the cilician sea to aid Nilia in any capacity possible.

Since Acadia is in the Euphemian Bloc, we should do something, too. Razz I guess we'll send some ships to help as well as a destroyer ship to escort them. It will just be difficult getting there. Smile

Historical Vote Passes, Barely

Chetal, Folland

Governor Paulson of Oddmund province yesterday, after a 51%/49% public vote, signed into law the Precious Life Bill, making it officially Illegal to commit an Abortion. The Province of Oddmund in northern Folland is the first region in Folland ever to make Abortion Illegal and already Pro-Choice groups are attacking Governor Paulson's move. The terms of the bill make Abortion an Illegal act anywhere within the province of Oddmund, and perpetrators will be charged with Voluntary Manslaughter with a sentence of up to 5 years in provincial prison, the length of imprisonment depending on the age of the fetus. Pro-Life groups applauded the Governor's actions, stating that he's "furthered the assurance of each unborn child's future." Groups are now trying to make Abortion illegal throughout the country.

War Persists on Chancellor's Agenda

Hinali, Folland

With the conflict with Ivouixkaw over with, and tensions cooling off with Acadia over Fraesian independence, War continues to stay in the sights of the Government. Along with the continuation of Operation Desert Mace in the Kingdom of Malo, a fleet of Folland Warships sail west toward Nilia, intent on relieving an Ally under attack. People have already expressed great distress with the events, much more so than with the war in Malo as this conflict consists of actual nation's militaries. As Communist forces from Ghuangji attack Nilia, the world watches with uncertain eyes if the Communist superpower Zhung will intervene or not. However the pressure is mounting on the Communists as Fleets from Insulo and Kaskaskia have prepared to depart as well.

In a statement from the Chancellor, he's declared; "-we are not going over there to fight a war, but to instead aid the Nilians and protect them from their aggressors." It will take a few days for the Fleet to arrive in Nilian waters, with a needed pit stop in an Okaiken port to refuel.

BREAKING NEWS

From our Channel 7 sister station,

Follandan Informer - Page 5 Embassyexplosion

Embassy building in Folland Capital Bombed

In the early hours of the morning work day, several eruptions were heard amidst the Government center of Hinali, Folland. Minutes later Fire and Rescue arrived on the scene to a scorching inferno blazing from the upper floors of the Embassy building. The fire wasn't under control until the early afternoon that day. Investigative analysts with the Hinali Police Department, Special Cases division have released information claiming that the explosives were military grade plastics and the epicenter of the blasts centered around the Embassy Offices of Shayden, Acadia, and Kaskaskia, leading Investigators to believe this was an attack on Euphemian consulates. Speculation from the populace suggests the Communist Party was behind the bombing in the wake of the Euphemian Bloc's intervention in the war in Nilia.

More on this as it develops.
