FRAESIA SURRENDERS

North Fraesian forces surrendered finally after a devastating war with neighboring Acadia raged on just several hundred miles away from Follvirkeland's border. With most of the war's damage occurring within Fraesia's towns and cities, the country will have to spend estimated millions if not much more to rebuild their infrastructure.

While riots continue within Acadia, Acadian government officials haven't decided yet to let Fraesia keep it's independence, or annex the country.

In related news, with the war over, Follvirkeland now has tens of thousands of Fraesian war refugees to either take in permanently, or send back to Fraesia.

Follvirkeland has always upheld the ideals of peace, democracy, and the capitalist method of making your living in the world. For hundreds of years, it's worked, and the citizenry have been happy and content with this way of life. But a select group of citizens don't share these thoughts.

The Communist party of Follvirkeland have been around since March 1st, 1949 as stated on their official website. Embodying the idea that every single person in Follvirkeland is as equal as the rest, right down to how many dollars they get for their job is the best way to live. Mark Stassen, the President of the Communist Party has actively fought his entire political career for the Follvirkeland Legislature to accept the Communist Party as a dominant, outstanding party who of which at least deserves a seat on the High Council. To much the Party's dismay, the Council and Chancellor Moen refuse to acknowledge them. President Mark Stassen commented in an interview that the whole [capitalist] government refuses to accept them largely on fear of Communism alone, and not on actual political facts at all. Indeed a lot of the country's people have an inbred cold shoulder toward the very thought of Communism, but Mark Stassen often cites statements from educated, professional Political analysts stating that Communism is incredibly great, in theory. Mark Stassen urges the people to give Communism a chance. To show Follvirkeland that as a Community of over 260 million, they could see a new, better day for the country under Communism.

The Grandians banned the Communist Party after Belluterra turned non-communist and joined with Grand again, back in the mid-1990s; the ban has yet to be lifted (although it may happen soon, what with Charles I "modernizing" the government and all). Razz

In the news today from the Capital, Chancellor Moen decides on what to do with the Fraesian refugees, leaning toward giving them citizenship in Folland if they so choose, but is allowing them save passage back to their homes in Fraesia. With the first groups of refugees returning to their homes, Folland remains alert for their safety as Acadian military forces remain in the country.

As Folland Armed Forces begin their campaign against the Forgian and Zebtesian militants in Malo, public opposition to the war is slowly beginning to appear as groups across the country think the Military is going too far. However the Military has expressed in statements that Follandian forces are only targeting hostile militants and are in Malo with the expressed invitation from the Kingdom. With a foothold in the region, it's only a matter of time before the militants are eradicated from Malo entirely.

A rather extreme Healthcare bill is in the works right now as the Senate debates before putting it forward to the Council. The new bill, if passed, would require the possession of Health Insurance by all Folandian citizens. As Folland has always had universal healthcare for it's populace through a higher tax rate, people are scared what this could mean if it passes. New Insurance companies could charge ridiculous amounts just to have basic coverage. The bill would also allow hospitals to refuse patients if they don't have insurance. So far the majority of the populace is aggressively against the bill, but corporate higher-ups, mainly the ones interested in the idea of the business, are putting a lot of support into it.

Prime Minister Cathleen will be visiting Sk'uuyat this week as officials from our neighboring country express excited want for good relations.

Chancellor Moen has expressed deep sorrow for the terrible forest fires raging across Kaskaskia and have pledged several tanker planes to the country for use in dousing and controlling the flames with water.

In related news, Chancellor Moen's daughter has been spotted enjoying the AniTrance concert. Increased security at the event has been again tightened to ensure her safety as she attends with her friends.

Breaking News

During the night of September 25th, Jets flew into Ivouixkaw and bombed key Military Administration buildings under the cover of darkness, striking a blow against the Ivouixkaw Military leadership. It is now apparent that a state of war has been declared against the Federation. As of the following morning, ground forces of neither country have yet to cross the border. However the National Guard have begun mandatory evacuations of the border towns and cities, rushing to get innocent civilians out of harms way before things escalate.

In related news, Okaiken, a major trade partner of Folland has ceased trade by imposing sanctions. All metals and Electronics have been cut off and increased tariffs on Agricultural goods have put a heavy strain on Folland's economy. With half of Folland being barren tundra, Folland relies on importing produce from other countries. How this will affect the country is still unknown, but Folland will likely refuse to import produce now from Okaiken because of the extra cost.
