As you all know, I would like to have snow in Mitron. I have thought of doing this proposal (ignore the red for now) where you can see a few name changes of bodies of water, as well as a loss of a couple of islands for Mike. D: Sorry man! I really only have two things I want: A Ohio & Washington like climate, as well as being next to my buddy the South Calern Gulf, hence the name change. Please discuss, I would like to get this sorted out. Razz

LONG LIVE MITRON!

Okay so since I'm one of the Cartographic Committee members, you're gonna need to win over my vote. Sadly, taking away my islands won't do that. Razz

I'd be okay with the change, but first things need to be worked out.

First Moving the name "South Calern Gulf" made it look weird as the two Calerns are now separated by Kuyrut. It would be best if the names just stayed where they are. Secondly, when I suggested that Mitron be moved to the Rites Sea, I literally meant, IN the Rites Sea, and not next to it where you would overlap some of my islands. If you placed it there, then there wouldn't be any disputes.

I don't think you taking Mike's islands is very fair.

So if you want snow everywhere, you'll have to reduce your population, GDP etc etc.

Cold climates cannot support larger populations as farming is much harder and people just don't want to live there.

Will is right.  As usual. Razz You can have snow in the winter, Chris.  I'm sure Ohio isn't snowy year-round.

I'm not asking for snow year round, but Mike said I can only have snow in like one place. D:

Well, Mike doesn't decide the world weather patterns. You can have snow in most latitudes of the planet. It just depends on the landscape.

Will; I was thinking oceanic wind currents? We have nothing on Earth as large as the Cilician so I guess it could be possible. I'd like an Ohio or Washington climate, which do have farms Razz Just look outside Cleveland and Columbus, the rest of Ohio is farms.

Bad News, since the ocean lose their heat slower than land, the climate for oceanic islands are still warmer, even if you move it to the poles.

No I don't, but I do know what is more logical.

Mitron's far closer to the Temperate zone than Folland, Lansay, or Kuyrut is. Mitron's north enough to where he has a very wet and mild climate. Yes he would have a Washington-like climate, I would know, I live there. And Washington commonly has wet winters, however we sometimes get cold fronts from Canada that would mix with precipitation causing snowfall. On Adonia, that cold front would come from Folland or Kuyrut.

However, because Mitron is an island, and is surrounded on all sides by ocean, which retains heat like Carl said, it would be very uncommon for Mitron to have vinter vunderland type snowfall along the coasts. Razz He'd have snowfall more commonly in the hills and mountains because of their elevation from sea level.

This would be easier to explain with a map. I shall make one.

That's where I believe you would have snow usually. If you were to get big cold fronts from the south though, you can extend that light gray zone further west almost to the coast.
