A Type-7A3 Monnard at Folland's Armed Forces Training Center Jayton.

*Syndicated Defense Industries in cooperation with it's permanent contractor the Follandan Armed Forces range tested it's latest iteration of the Type-7 Monnard Main Battle Tank. Designated the Type-7A3, the new Monnard features a new turret and 150mm main gun. The specially designed gun fires more efficient High Velocity Armor Piercing rounds, capable of massive penetrative power. When the Informer media were allowed access to the test range, a crewman commented that the new tank is "pretty much the one-hit wonder sniper of the Armored Corps". The T-7A3's turret features more advanced target acquisition systems giving astounding accuracy. The Follandan military hopes to purchase a total of 50 tanks in the new variant over the span of the next two years.

In The News Today;

*Prime Minister Cathleen, second in command to multiple previous Chancellors and long time political leader has been officially sworn in by the High Council as Folland's Executive, officially abolishing the office of the Chancellor. The occasion was met with general acceptance from long time supporters of Prime Minister Cathleen who served under both Chancellor Michael Moen and his daughter, Interim Chancellor Dehya Moen. Many have voiced opinions over the continued lack of proper elections, however the High Council and Prime Minister Cathleen both assured the public that, when the four year term of office ends, elections will resume as usual. Until then Prime Minister Andella Cathleen is Folland's first Executive without a Chancellor, and will no doubt be remembered in national history. In the Prime Minister's inaugural speech Cathleen spoke of securing a better place in Adonia's future, and that "-the color green will become a very much favored color.".

*Folland's Criminal Investigation Department has begun an official investigation into the death of Folland's previous Ambassador to Sinope, who during the Grumboltd Chancellery detained Folland's Ambassador for unknown reasons, only to later find him dead in his home in Sinope after being released. Although the event has been downplayed in the media, many who know of it have accused the Sinopian government of foul play. The C.I.D. has requested formal access into Sinope.

*In related news, Folland continues to refuse a reopening of the Embassy in Sinope as relations remain strained.

*Folland's southernmost province of Kristin approved a bill this month that will provide funding to construct a GeoThermal Power Plant that will provide many communities in the Tundra areas, including the large city of Marston, with much needed power. The Power Plant will be a major investment in an effort to stave off the increasingly chilly temperatures encroaching northward from the Anacti as Adonia's climate continued to change for the worse. The power plant is estimated to cost around §20 Million Sents to build. Supporters have even gone to say, if the plant proves to be a resounding success, Folland may offer to sell power produced to neighboring Esdikkom towns.

*The late evening hours were marked with oddity when a mysterious computer error caused systems in multiple government and civilian entities to freeze, then reboot. The error would have been overlooked as just another glitch if it weren't for the fact that the event seemed to happen simultaneously across the nation. The C.I.D.'s Cyber Terrorism Unit has pledged to look into the matter. More to come when revealed.

*A freak storm struck the Rites Sea near Lomni Island, causing 50 to 60-foot waves at peaks out in open water. On land high winds and torrential rains plagued the city of Jesden, Lomni's largest city, causing moderate damage to property and infrastructure. Emergency response teams have released a statement claiming four people died in the storm with numerous missing persons reports coming in. Hinali tasked a Naval Cruiser, the FNS Protection to assist the local authorities in a support capacity.

In The News Today;

*Spokeswoman for the Follandan Armed Forces Navy, Vice Admiral Jennifer Craw released a statement Wednesday that the Follandan Navy will be holding joint exercises with the Kuyrutian Navy during the following weeks. As an important neighbor and ally in Western Euphemia, the Republic of Kuyrut has a longstanding friendship with Folland, however checkered it may be, and cooperating with the Republic Militarily will continue to help prepare the Sailors and Airmen of both nations to handle any situation that may arise in the future. When Prime Minister Panin requested the exercises, Kuyrutian President Herald Nader was more than willing to accept the offer.

~~Some details of the exercises have been released as well. Folland's contribution will consist of vessels from the 1st Fleet, which is based in the Rites Sea, under the Flagship Carrier FNS Brest.

~~In related news, the Follandan 3rd Fleet is currently out at sea, patrolling international waters near the Arctiki.

Follandan Informer - Page 20 Satellite%20town

Army Buys Town for Target Practice
*The Republic Armed Forces spared no expense last week after purchasing the deeds and land rights to an entire town in eastern Folland. Lowtown, located in Vidar Province to the south of Saint Nors, previously had a population of just Eighty Six and was founded in 1963 as a boomtown for nearby Natural Gas drilling. The town eventually died down to barely surviving when the resources ran dry and the Gas Companies moved on. It wasn't until two years ago that the Follandan Government approached the town with an offer. Every family living in Lowtown would be paid the market value of their house and land and be given ample time to find new residence. Additional Incentives were offered to residents who moved out sooner. Eventually the entire town was bought out and the last residents vacated last month. Now Lowtown, Vidar will serve a new purpose. As an urban training ground for Folland's Infantry and Armored Corps. The town and it's layout will give soldiers valuable experience dealing with modern day urban combat ranging anywhere from small squad maneuvers to full fledged ground war operations.

~In related news, several officers high in the chain of command have expressed sudden increased support for training grounds such as this, stating that, "in this current age combat can happen anywhere, even the streets of a once believed safe place." Many have speculated this is due to the severely deteriorating conditions in Bergenstein and surrounding regions. Even though Folland and other Euphemian nations have refused to get involved, rumors continue to spread that, that might change if things worsen enough.

The USNW Grows
*The international stage received some excitement the past week as three new Nations have applied to the United Sovereign Nations. Nanami, Teiko, and Sameshira have extended their requests and evidence is pointing to all three being accepted. Nanami and Teiko, both being neighboring nations to Okaiken will have special effects on international politics, especially in the South Cilician region of the world.

Insulting Statements Breed Tensions
*Waves of protest and anger has been flooding the Internet more and more after the latest round of Anti-Follandan rhetoric from Sinope, a regional power in Western Althena. The Sinopian Republic has always been a thorn in the Follandan Governments side for decades but only within the last half year has relations completely been ceased between the two nations, mainly over reactions concerning the failed Occupation of Fraesia by the Follandan military as well as the events leading to Folland's current Government administration. Many Follandans have expressed in a furious tone to simply return fire, but in a more damaging way, claiming "they deserve it". Prime Minister Panin, however, has looked at the situation with a more calm head and has even considered personally requesting talks with the Sinopian Doge, to iron out the two's disagreements. Even though, Folland's administration's global image has been steadily souring in many nation's eyes, including neighbors once thought to be long time friends. Currently the High Council believes life can continue as usual without the complete support of its neighbors, but the country is already beginning to hurt from the world's disapproving views.

Future Tank Put On Hold
*Syndicated Defense Industries released in a statement yesterday that it will be discontinuing the new Type-7A3 variant of the Monnard MBT until further notice as complications had arisen involving the tank's main gun. However SDI spokespeople have confirmed it will be able to provide Folland with several Type-7A3 variants mounted with the older 7A1 Smoothbore gun in the meantime. This means however that for the time being the Follandan Armed Forces will have to forego utilizing SDI's promised High Velocity Cannon.

BREAKING NEWS

Follandan Informer - Page 20 Folland%20cargo%20plane%20crash%20sinope%20satellite
Satellite photo provided by the National Space Exploration Administration of Folland

Follandan Air Force Cargo Plane Crashes in Sinope
A Follandan Air Force UT-130 Cargo Plane crash landed over Eastern Sinope early today in what is being described as a controlled crash landing following a mechanical failure. One Pilot suffered fatal injuries during the crash and several crew members were injured but survived. Little details are known at present however it's been released by the Sinope Government that the Cargo Plane entered Sinopian Airspace after suffering the mechanical failure, and was escorted until crashing by jets of the Sinope Air Force. Upon crash landing the Sinope Military secured the site 15 minutes later, controlling the ablaze wreckage and rescuing the surviving crewmembers. Those with minor afflictions were treated and provided temporary accommodations while the more several injured were moved to a Hospital in a nearby city. When news agencies interviewed the surviving crew it was revealed that the Pilot's sacrifice and their cargo of two Taurus IFVs were the reasons they were still alive.

"When the engine blew we knew we were gonna crash. It was actually the Pilot who told us to pile into the IFVs before he brought us down. Without him making sure the plane came in level enough, and the tanks sheltering us from the crash, we all probably would have died. That pilot man. Had some serious balls." ~ Corporal Jake Orson, 3rd Mechanized.

All of the surviving crew interviewed had nothing but gracious thanks for the Pilot that saved their lives, and expressed the need to give their thanks and condolences to the Pilot's family.

"I'll never talk smack about the Air Force ever again."

When asked about how the Sinopians were treating the crewmembers, there was nothing but positive reviews of their hospitality.

"Y'know with all the tension these days between Folland and Sinope; Politics man, we were kinda scared ****less that we crashed in the middle of a country that had nothing good to say about us. But we've been treated like guests here." ~Private Peter Carol.

"When we piled out of the cargo hold to get away from the burning wreckage, and then saw dozens of Military vehicles coming our way, 'Hell', I thought, if the crash didn't kill us these guys with guns will." ~Private First Class Helena Taegan.

Several crewmembers will be staying in Sinope as they recover from their injuries, however the rest will be staying overnight before being moved to Calibria in order to return back home to their families in Folland.

In The News Today;

Growing Support for the "White Star".
Growing in contrast to Folland's relatively peaceful past reports, interviews and polls have shown a growing trend in Nationalist attitudes in Folland. Dubbed the "White Star", a major mainstream movement under Folland's iconic single white star on it's national flag has become the symbol of the Follandan 'way of life'. Many claim it to represent "Pure Liberty", however others give it more radical, or even extremist meanings in order to support the people's hopes of establishing Folland as a legitimate and leading power in the Western Hemisphere. Beloved High Councilwoman Dehya Moen, previously the interim Chancellor, stated in a candid interview that it's "-healthy to have a dose of Nationalism in your life, however people must be careful to not let it get to the point where Follandans start thinking they're better than everyone."

Though it seems that's exactly where it's heading. Especially as foreign powers continue to disrespect and belittle Folland for the country's previous actions. This, coupled with a public outcry for a stronger sense of importance is placing the populace and the country on a path toward a very uncertain and possibly dangerous future, and the militarization is not helping.

To Talk or Not To Talk
It's certainly the question regarding Folland and her very insulting friend, Sinope. Weeks upon weeks of insulting, belittling rhetoric from the Sinope Republic about everything from Folland's Government Administrations to her people has bred almost nothing but contempt for Sinope from the Follandan populace, and yet Prime Minister Panin has seriously considered a neutral meeting with the Sinopian Doge to finally iron out their differences. Many though, feeling pain from these remarks demand Folland gain a strong and powerful stance against Sinope as any hope for future relations are thrown out the window. What does this mean though? The Government is considering the hope for future relations especially now with the sudden olive branch over the recent Follandan Air Force crash in Sinope and Sinope's generous treatment of the victims, however the Follandan citizenry has an outpouring of discontent with Sinope and it's hurtful remarks and want's nothing more to do with the country or it's Doge. With the future lead to renewed friendship? Or heated conflict over differing ideologies.

Why Even Bother?
Many have stated this as the first Euphemian Thirteen summit nears it's extended end date with barely anything even have been discussed at all. Saint Nors, Vidar held the distinction of being the host city for the Summit and it's attending dignitaries and at first much of the city's people were pleased to be a part of this event. However after the leaders arrived for the start and initial speeches were made, the Summit quickly hit a wall. Secretary Bennan actually had to extend the week long summit by an additional week in an attempt to get more topics discussed, however with only four days left of the extension, hope for a successful summit has quickly died. Many around the world have claimed the Summit to be a joke and Follandans all over the country wondered why bother. It is believed that when the 19th arrives the Summit will end in a miserable failure and leaders will return to their nations with having nothing been gained.

The only topic that was even somewhat discussed at all was remarks between Follandan dignitary Gerry Bennan and Fraesian dignitary Minister Matel over the Fraesian Occupation, to which Minister Matel stoically denied his nation holding anything of a damaging nature to Folland. Twice.

What will this failure mean for future relations between Euphemian nations? Even Shayden, Folland's longest running Ally has begun to look at Folland with suspicious eyes. It seems the Follandan Republic is running out of friends.
