The Braavos Globe is a Sinopian newspaper of Trentannian language. Currently edited by Natasha Vasiliki, it has grown from a early 20th-century local paper to a national paper associated with a complex organisational structure and international multimedia and web presence. Its sister papers include The Observer (daily paper in Trentannia) and The Theodosia Informer (Trentannian language paper in Relastova).

Shayden, Acadia and Okaiken conversation leaks!

The Braavos Globe 07nobel1

By Anna Kaklova

SMITH CITY - A three-way diplomatic call between Shayden's President, Ronald Smith,
Okaiken's Prime Minister, Toshiro Kurosawa, and Acadia's President, Matthew Randall,
has been leaked to the public. The talks were mostly on Bergenstein and a little bit on
Relastova. We can clearly hear President Smith say that "their [Bergenstein] state
currencies have caused tax problems for Shayden, and their dispute with Relastova
shows they are not a responsible nation."

How these different currencies have caused problems for Shayden in taxes is not
explained, however, the comment about the dispute with Relastova can presume a
potential Shayden's support of Relastovan claims. President Randall, however, said that
"it would be in all of our best interests if Bergenstein began use of the Enieo". He also
added later on that "when they [Bergenstein] agree, they will be given time to implement
the Enieo".

Sinopian businessman and financial journalist for the Braavos Globe, Matthaios
Karathodoros, commented that "Randall's attitude of forcing other nations to use a
specific currency is quite disturbing. He deliberately says that a Bergenstein use of the
Enieo would be "better". Better for whom? I doubt he was talking about Bergenstein,
which, even with their highly unstable currency system is doing okay. It is of Acadian
interests that Bergenstein uses the Enieo and it is quite normal. Any nation can use any
currency of the world, could it be Sinope using the Oxacmelan Peso or the Relastovan Rouble.
If Sinope decided to use the Rouble, Relastova couldn't do anything about it."

According to President Randall, still in the cable leak, "the Enieo and Sent are the two most
used currencies in the world". The Enieo and Sent both dominate trades with Euphemia, but
is not the case at all within Althenia. Some conspiracy theorists claim the Randall's purpose
is to get the Enieo as the main currency in Western Althena, especially with USNW fellow
members. Prime Minister Kurosawa concluded the call by saying that "Bergenstein is not a
responsible nation; Therefore we recommend a 15-Day ultimatum to use the Enieo or else
they will be sanctioned".

"The Enieo, as a temporary currency for Bergenstein, could stabilize the country's dangerous
monetary system, but it is already a quite unstable currency with its many members from
different economies and parts of Adonia", believes, Mark Venray, a monetary specialist at the
Trentannian University of Braavos. Should Bergenstein decide to continue its policies or face
the ridiculous consequences that Shayden, Acadia and Okaiken promise to do, it is up to the
High King."

There has been no official reaction from Bergenstein, while certain Western Althenan nations,
including the Doge of Sinope and the President of Relastova, made declarations. President
Baratchev qualified the leak as "descriptive of the neo-imperialistic attitude of the Euphemian
block and surprisingly of the new young leader of Okaiken." In a press conference this morning in
Braavos, the Doge, Diogenes of Sinope, declared that "I personally find misters Randall, Smith
and Kurosawa's attitude shameful from national leaders. Their reasoning is quite despicable as well.
They're imposing a sovereign nation, Bergenstein, an ultimatum of 15 days for the federal
government of Bergenstein to change completely their currency system, start using a single
national currency with "recommendation" to start using the Enieo, a currency Shayden, Acadia
and Okaiken, three other sovereign states, all four USNW members, decided to throw as a mere
suggestion or as an order for another sovereign state. Refusal to comply to the ultimatum will
result in total trade blockade and sanctions. I call that black mailing. As much as I'd wish to call
this a breach of International Law, it technically isn't. The Sinope Republic and the Sinopian People
will be clear here. As their spokesperson and leader, the highly elected Doge of Sinope, I, Diogenes
of Sinope, warn you, the nations of Shayden, Acadia and Okaiken, that you are not respecting
the sovereignty of Bergenstein and are threatening the stability of Western Althena with your
imperialistic and despicable decisions. You have been warned. You shall face the consequences
of your choices."

The Doge was very calm during his declaration, but you could see a little bit of anger in his tone,
despite the low debit of message delivery. Many Bergen expatriates in Sinope rallied in Braavos
to protest in front of the Shayden, Acadian and Okaiken embassies. As we speak, many Sinopians
are expecting to protest over the week-end as well with many protests being organized on social
networks.

Bergenstein's economy will collapse, experts say

The Braavos Globe Bank

By Marius Platinus

"Bergenstein is struggling with a weak economy and a massive debt burden. It's monetary
policy is disastrous." says Anaïs Partikos, an analyst of the Bank of Braavos.

The Bergenstein economy contracted 1.2 percent in the third quarter from a year earlier,
and the budget deficit totals 15.2 percent of GDP.

The government has absolutely no plans to cut the gap. Many analysts are skeptical of the
viability of Bergenstein as a nation. The Sinope government has advised Sinopian banks and
companies to not invest in Bergenstein and Althenan and Euphemian credit rating agencies,
mainly Shayden ones, have decreased Bergenstein's rate to B+, the lowest of any
Althenan nation.

The United States of Bergenstein have recently tried to increase relations with Sinope
and other Althenan nations with no success whatsoever. The government of Sinope
declared that the Bergenstein unstability was an absolute wall to possible good relations
between the two states.

Doge Diogenes declared that "If nothing is done quickly by the government of Bergenstein,
I won't be surprised if its states start to claim independence or join into a union with its
neighbour Brullen. The situation has continued for far too long. Sinope wants actions and
results."

The Doge's administration has been defending Bergenstein recently in a clash between three
Adonian powers, namely Shayden, Acadia and Okaiken against Bergenstein in an attempt
to force the latter into changing its monetary policy by threats and sanctions.

Asked if he regreted his decision, Diogenes replied: "Absolutely not. These nations were in
the wrong in their methods to influence Bergenstein. Sinope wants to cooperate with
these states, but in an international legal way."

International LARP happening in Bergenstein

The Braavos Globe LARP_Sternenfeuer_Treffen

By God Allah

Bergenstein and several other nations have started the biggest Adonian LARP event after a fictional simulation of internal crisis that happened in a few minutes.

Mitron LARP forces as well as Grand's and Abassid's forces have been fighting for a few hours now in an all LARP battle, the biggest of its kind ever done.

A LARP expert of Bergenstein nationality explains the concept: "Well we pew pew each other and bam we evolve and it happens like this because we have fun! Oh and we use guillotine to execute prisoners!!!"

The man was very excited and continued expressing his thoughts in what seemed to be Trentannian but our journalist couldn't understand anything.

Most LARPs are intended as games for entertainment. Enjoyable aspects can include the collaborative creation of a story, the attempt to overcome challenges in pursuit of a character's objectives, and a sense of immersion in a fictional setting.

According to an undisclosed source, the Francistown Times, oops, we disclosed it, well, yes, according to them, King-Emperor Charles I, who was playing in this LARP, apparently a huge fan of the genre, was imprisoned by Bergenstein LARP players!

Asked in the streets what they thought of the event, many Braavosians commented by saying: "What the hell? Well, as long as they have fun, I don't have any problem with it."

A Lindosian in visit, Sarah Loponik, 25, said: "Well, it looks stupid, but at the same time, I have no words."

Sinope scolding Bergenstein and others

The Braavos Globe Article-2110591-03B4660F0000044D-337_468x312
We can see here Doge Diogenes educating a young Bergenstein immigrant

By Trayvon Stinkwaters

SOMEWHERE OVER THE RAINBOW - Sinope's government led by the powerful
Doge Diogenes, has once again scolded the World, starting with Bergenstein.
First was the scattered pseudo-imperial kingdom of Grand, Belluterra and Malo,
of which the Doge reminded the principles of International Law. Butthurt, the
nicknamed IFK, suspected to be an acronym for " I f*** ", tried to justify its
possible intervention in Bergenstein, stating Humanitarian reasons. Diogenes was
like: "NO YOU DON'T". On Sunday, in an ultimate dialogue between several
USNW nations about the situation in Bergenstein, Sinope declared it was time
to shut up and for Bergenstein to "end of violence, end of foreign presence in
Bergenstein, [establish an] international investigation over human rights
violations in Bergenstein and the release of hostages".

Bergenstein agreed, not without reticence, to the deal. Mitron tried its move, but
Sinope was backed by its buddies Okaiken and Insulo. The IFK then tried to
pass some justification about a Triple Monarchy thing that was ambiguous to
intervene in Bergenstein. The statement was ignored.

Today, Bergenstein declared it will hold talks between the different parties
involved in the Civil War and invited all. Bergenstein's statement remains
unclear: "This is open to all member states and we would advise that all member
states should attend should attend."

The summit's location has not been decided yet. It will be most likely be held in
Bergenstein, unless the government of the latter agrees to have it hosted on
foreign ground, most likely in Okaiken or even at the Headquarters of the United
Sovereign Nations of the World in Francistown, Grand.

Bergenstein Civil War in a deadlock: Doge Diogenes proposes Sinope's help in Batavia

The Braavos Globe Situation_in_bergenstein_1
A map of the situation in Bergenstein where fights still occur between Modernists and Traditionalists while the number of refugees keeps growing.

By Agape Areleous

BRAAVOS - In a press conference this morning, Doge Diogenes declared Sinope could support Batavia in a military force along with other Western Althenan countries to end the Civil War in Bergenstein if the government of Batavia requested foreign help after Modernists troops entered the country Tuesday and opened fire on Batavian border troops resulting in two Batavian soldiers death and four injured.

"Should the Batavian government take military actions against Bergenstein for this violation of international law and its sovereignty, the Sinope Republic would be glad to support this intervention." declared Doge Diogenes.

Latest updates on the situation in Bergenstein are dramatic. According to the Trentannian NGO BergenWatch, the total death toll has exceeded 50,000 people.

"There are over a million refugees in neighbouring Étrusque and Brüllen!" said Anita Clayton, the spokesperson for the NGO.
"Governments in the region are helping Étrusque and Brüllen to deal with all these refugees, sending aid in food and medicines."

Asking in this morning's press conference about Sinope's official support on the governments of Bergenstein, Doge Diogenes answered that "Bergenstein has no government officially recognised by the Sinope Republic". According to him, an independent international investigation is "needed on the possible war crimes committed by both Modernists and Traditionalists" in the Civil War. As of the recent Okaiken arrest warrants for mainly Traditionalist representatives, he declared that "Sinope will support this initiative although we will add all other Bergenstein representatives who have not complied with the treaty established in the 3rd USNW summit".

Political analyst Phocas Zabat thinks that "most NGOs and Adonian governments are siding blindly with the Modernists without further investigations". He applauded Sinope's initiative in the 3rd USNW summit although he thinks it failed because of the "lack of firm support from other nation" and "Traditionalists and Modernists are too stubborn and nationalist to ever consider peace or a division of Bergenstein" as proposed and approved in the 3rd USNW summit. "The recent fights with Batavia really change the situation, though, especially if Sinope intervenes like Doge Diogenes proposed", he concluded.
