The USNW has been bound to this planet long enough. The Commonwealth of Paradise has decided, with the help of Folland and any other willing nation, to research technologies to get Adonia space capable and able to travel among the stars. Details of the project will come as they are acquired.

Are we talking about settling other planets... or just a space program? When we founded USNW we decided that Adonia would be the same length along, technology wise, as Earth to keep it realistic.

Welp we'd need Manufacturing facilities for ship parts, Ship yards, possibly a space elevator, systems for the spacecraft, engines/thrusters. I'm thinking we could have a breakthrough in Nuclear Fusion.

What's wrong with jumping Adonia into the near future? Razz We could realistically have these breakthroughs around the 2080's and into the 22nd century. We could just have an event that jumpstarts this.

Because it was specifically stated when USNW was founded that we would keep technology parallel with Earth, as to safeguard realism.

Soooo no near future tech...? Is that like a Union rule?

We can at least have spacecraft like Shuttles since that is current technology, we can just take it farther than what is known since the U.S. isn't doing anything with the tech.

It's one of those rules that we agreed on when we founded the union, I might still have the skype chats. So yeah, only current technology. That also has to do with economics, we didn't want people selling technology that wasn't even being manufactured yet. All this was to keep Adonia realistic because there's a lot of people who crave realism, one of those people is me.

I agree with the current technology, but I was thinking in Psychology (in the History classroom) that if the Apollo program hadn't have been stopped, could we now have short time residence on the moon? Say like a months spurt or even month shuttles with cargo to something like the ISS but on the moon. So I think if we keep it to the current technology, but say we allow short term residence or something like the ISS.

So, does this mean my mineral Paradite is out, because it isn't exactly current tech.

Well, you've classified Paradite as a mineral, and god knows what kinds of elements and ores can be found on Adonia compared to Earth. So I think Paradite can be an exception, however actually using it as a robust shielding method is another thing. Maybe you could have a team of researchers experimenting with the mineral, trying to unlock its potential instead of already using it.

And I agree with Ying, small habitation on the moon is very well within our reach right now, so it's possible to have shuttles running supply runs between Adonia and it's moon(s). We could have a research base there.

I got a new element coming soon that's between Gold and Platinum called Pilastonite (after discoverer Alfred Pilas). And does Adonia have a moon I forgot x3

Two apparently...

Daniel wrote:Just fyi (as I don't think this was covered in the above thread), Adonia has two moons; the big moon Imera (the same size as Earth's moon), and the asteroid-sized [unnamed so far], which is in a much farther orbit than Imera, and so is only visible to the naked eye on really, really clear nights. Wink

Ok so shielding's out. What about using it to disable electronics as an EMP? I'm sure this is entirely possible, as dan and I discussed it at length.

YingBlanc

well if we names the big moon already, then we need to go to the asteroid next right, I mean who knows what minerals it could be holding.

That asteroid could have come from anywhere before Adonia captured it. Who knows what's on it. D: Now I'm just copying Ying. D:

I got this from a cool documentary. As for shielding, we can just build a large physical shield that extends in front of the main vessel which protects it from oncoming debris as it flies forward.

Sounds legit to me. I still would like to know about my mineral though. It's a pretty big deal in my country, paradite is Razz

Can it be used as an energy source? Is it Radioactive? Is it abundant? Is it light/strong? It could be used in construction, or energy production.

it's magnetic, and to add to those questions "is it bigger than a breadbox" x3x3

in that case, is there anywhere you can put my material xD Altomire, it's like a precious metal of rarity between gold and platinum.

Can I get the simplified version of what you're trying to say carl?Razz

Edit: oh, it's just a lesson you're trying to sneak in under our noses Razz

Carl

Carl

LOL Kenny Razz

Well, a simplified version is that the material (paradite) can be turned against you, using the Magnetic Law Razz.

I'm aware of that. That's paradite's one and only flaw....we're working on it Razz

Carl

Carl

LOL How can you possibly do that? xDxDxDxD

(I think you can use electric fields Wink)

I'll get our scientists and researchers on it.
On another note, Mike said something that makes me think I could use paradite for maglev travel. But of course that's a story for another topic section.
