Grand and Belluterra, please provide your opening statement.

We wish to bring the accused before the High Court on the aforementioned charges, as they were accomplices in the assassination of our dearly beloved Emperor Daniel the Great, and then, when asked to peacefully give themselves up to the authority of the Emperor, they refused, forcing us to take their house by force. We also have evidence that some of them had previously attempted to assassinate the Governor-General of Lamer Province, with approval from the others, and they themselves have admitted to being members of the terrorist organization "Ensunan Liberation Army", which has been responsible for the vast majority of terrorist attacks in Grand in the last twenty-five years

That's all I have to say for now, Your Honor.

By the way, who are taking the different roles (defense, prosecution, etc.)? I know I'm prosecution lol

The defense accepts that the charges against Mr. Marco Fernandez are undeniable. However, the situation with the other parties being accused is not as clear. We wish to insure that all the charges against these persons are warranted by their actions, and that there is sufficient evidence to confirm these actions. So far this is evidence has not been available, and we hope to resolve any possible mis-accusation.

The defense would also motion that none of the defendants may be sentenced to death under the rules of the court.

We shall now begin with the plaintiff's case. Please introduce your evidence or call your first witness.

Before we call our witnesses, we shall first take a look at some evidence:

Most of the accused members were known to be ELA members or to have associated with ELA members in the past, previous to the assassination, and the Ensunan Fernandez family was on amiable terms with the Zhou family, which is one of the few non-Ensunan families to reside in La-Mer Province. It is likely that Marco Fernandez and his brother Leonardo, with their relatively high ranks in the ELA, were easily able to corrupt Mr. Zhou, and since Zhou was a bodyguard of the Emperor, he was their key to their goal of assassinating not only him, but also all of his near relations, ending the Petersroy dynasty.

All of the accused have confessed to being members of the ELA while under interrogation.

Here, we have bullets identical to the ones used to kill most prominently, Emperor Daniel I and his son-in-law Duke Horace IX, several of them containing fingerprints matching those of Zhou, the senior Fernandez, and Sebastien Rosales, and those on the boxes corresponding to those of both Fernandez brothers, Manuel O'Ryan, and Jose Gonzales;

Case #1: Grand and Belluterra v. Fernandez et. al. Bullets

Barrels of gunpowder in the vast arsenal discovered in the basement of the Fernandez' mansion;
Case #1: Grand and Belluterra v. Fernandez et. al. Powder

All the occupants of the house were armed with M1 rifles like these, with more discovered inside the house;
Case #1: Grand and Belluterra v. Fernandez et. al. GunofELA

Unless more evidence is required, that is all I have to say for now, your honor.

The Defense requests a clarification regarding firearm control laws where the alleged crimes occurred.

Clarification granted, prosecution?

In the Province of Lamere, where the defendants were captured, it is illegal for anyone residing in that province, except for members of the military stationed there, to mantain personal firearms of any kind, and has been so since the 17th century, when the law was enacted, soon after the Second Grandian-Ensunan War. The following is a transcript of the law itself:

Lamere Personal Firearm Control Decree

To prevent further shedding of blood in the southern Province of Lamere, we feel it is our duty to outlaw all possession of personal firearms, save those in possession of the military, and furthermore, whosoever is arrested with said weapons in his possession shall face a prison sentence of up to thirty years.

Seems adequate, Defense?

Apparently the defense has no further comments.

All defendants, with the exceptions of Maro and Leonardo Fernandez, have been granted a Royal Pardon by King-Emperor Charles I. The executions of the Fernandez brothers by nitrogen asphyxiation will take place in one week.

Could this be moved to the "Archived Cases" forum please? Smile
