Adiputra Administration to invite tenders for new Navy ships
Prime Minister Adiputra and Defense Minister Ron Toh announced on a press conference this morning that given the troubling situation of global security the government has officially asked to become a member of the South Cilician Mutual Assurance Treaty (SCMAT). The treaty is believed by many to be a reaction of Kuyrut to the formation of the Euphemian Bloc. It consists currently of Kuyrut, Okaiken, Nanami, Kwangju and Folland. As of yet no news has reached the press whether the SCMAT-members will agree to the accession of Kupore to the treaty or not.
Ron Toh announced in the same press conference that the Defense Ministry will invite tenders for new Kupore Navy ships from all foreign defense industries, with the exception of Bergenstein companies. The Navy will replace it's old destroyers and intends to buy extra patrol ships and fast attack ships. "New and more ships are necessary to protect us from and weather this new wave of global insecurity", said Toh at the press conference. According to Toh there have already been contacts with Brüllen's Vann Indutries and Kuyrutian defense firm Western Industrial.
Further news on SCMAT is to be expected within days. Who will build Kupore's new navy might not be known for another week or longer.
