If a former Administrator, having resigned both his office and his membership, later returns to the Union within a period of no more than three months, current Members may vote on whether or not to restore his administrative powers to him alongside the voting on whether or not to allow him back in.

What do you guys think?

Sounds good! Gives them a chance to get it back and keeps the power with everyone.

I'm for it.

I say no to this, but yes to Kurt coming back. Skeptical

Well it would depend on the admin...but if it's kurt, I'm down, of course.

I argue we insert this as tradition, not legislation. That way if we want someone who left for whatever reason back and back as an admin, we can put that to vote but it's not mandatory to where we get alot of people blindly voting and noone really wants this person back as an admin but if it's just tradition, someone proposes it and that means there's clearly a faction or atleast a person who wants them back.

I think I agree with Will. That was a little confusing, though. Wink

I agree with Will on this one... but we should also clearly state that the all of us should reach an overwhelming consensus (that means we all agree upon), so that events such as the "June Crisis" wouldn't happen ever again.

Regardless of the method or details, there should at least be a second chance.

Note that the amendment (which is intended to provide a charter-legal way for returning members to regain administration - as it stands now, if Kurt returned, he'd have to wait until January to get a chance at becoming an admin again) doesn't say "must vote" on restoring administrative powers, just "may vote". There's a difference. Wink

Basically, if this amendment was passed and Kurt then reapplied, the poll might look something like this:

I got that Dan, I just think this would be better if we just put up a proposal if someone who used to be an admin was coming back. Plus it seems like a more respectful way of doing it to me.

I say no to this method as stated on Skype, it leaves a massive yawning gate in the security of the USNW, but I say to Kurt's predicument, we have it 2 stage, reapply, then a proposal to be reinstated which we vote on.

You need more information then just ask before I forget my history lesson that attaches to it.

@Will: so if I got that right, you're proposing making a bill in the International Assembly for each individual returning former admin?

yup. Basically that way if noone really cares for person x to be an admin that person can quietly pass by without being voted back in as I see it.

Hmmm... I like that idea. Smile

Alright then, we don't make it mandatory to issue a vote. We just ask them if they'd like to? Then put a vote if they do?

I'd allow them back in full member no questions asked, but not with admin powers. Maybe if you made the time between officially re-entering and the vote on regaining admin powers one month and/or a requirement on recent updates or having +5 or +10 or so activity index.

Deciding to vote on them becoming an admin against shouldn't be up to a forum statistic or time frame. It needs to be how we as the community perceive them. Just like government power, "we the people" need to be satisfied that the power won't be abused before giving it over.

Make the amendment where every returning ex-admin may have his/her power restoration put to a vote if the community deems it necessary/appropriate, and said voting can happen any time after the user returns depending on when the community agrees.

So essentially, if the member left on good terms and wants to be an admin, we can vote on it if everyone agrees it is a good idea.
