History:
The history of Achay starts before the birth of Christ,around the 300 b.C.
A population from the eastern Alcydean sea invaded this lands,that first were occupied by farmers(mostly of Olive trees). This peoples,called Acheyads,gave to this population a correct civilization,and also the concept of "nation","state". The Acheyads used to speak a language very similar to the standard Achayan. For example,"NATION" that in Achayan is "Ναραστοι"(Narastoi) in Acheyad is "Ναραστεφ"(Narastef). So these two peoples got united in one only people,the Acheayans. The first big city that they founded is Atarkiad,the modern taAtarkiros,that was,like now,a city formed by a group of different towns.
The Acheyad (the nation of the Acheayans) was for the first time attacked by the Ottonians. But the Acheayans beat them at Atarkiad Channel,just near Atarkiad. It was in 100 b.C.
When the middle age started the Acheayans,that now were Achayans and used to speak the modern Achayan,lived a golden age of their civilization. In 1300 we have for the first time a Monarchy there,with the king Ciriad I. Until the 1800 the Achay had a period of peace and great discoveries. With 1800 Achay had a period of criminality and civil wars. There were 1.400.000 people at that time in Achay,and 200.000 of them died. In 1940's Achay was like a large Harbour for the armies of several nations of Althena,but,also with the beginning of the Great War,Achay stayed neutral. During the Great Adonian War,the Socialist Leandros Perdispotamis,with a golpe,took the government under his control and created the Socialist Republic of Achay. The life during this era was terrible,people could not go out from Achay and everything was under the "Saiguremni" (like a KGB),the secret government's police. An example of the hard life imposed by Perdispotamis is the capital of Achay,Atarkiros,specially the central part,on Atarkiramis peninsula,where we can find commieblocks and boulevards,only in the suburbs there are the remains of the old city. During 80's people was very unhappy of this way of life,so,in 1989,people decided to block with barricades all the roads to the main cities,specially the ones to Atarkiros,and then,they attacked the capital. The army answered with the bullets,and 7000 people died. Most of the people died and most of them where relatives of lots of army members. So,the main division of the army,decided to stay next to the "partisans" and fight the government. Few days later,Perdispotamis was killed by the partisans,and the Achay became again a Kingdom.
Today Achay,is also a Monarchy,with king Alexandros III,and is a famous touristic location,specially for its pacific and beautiful landscapes,for its quiet towns...and for the variety of foods.
