Gamæþ Landsfréttir Askivotn_eruption

A cloud of smoke and ash billows from Gamat's Askivötn volcano. The country's most active volcano, Askivötn sits beneath the Stortajökull ice cap in the South part of the island. The current eruption is the first for this peak since 2005.

Askivötn's 12-mile-high (19-kilometer-high) ash cloud prompted the country's four international airports to cancel flights. Winds are pushing the ash northwestward toward Utrova and Northern Althena, where airline officials are preparing for possible impacts to Orkov Romanovich International Airport by the end of the week.

Even so, Askivötn is not expected to hinder air traffic across Western Althena with the same severity as Vatnajökull's 2009 eruption. The weight of Askivötn's ash particles will make them drop to the ground faster.

Stay tuned for more information.

Gamæþ Landsfréttir Askivotn_eruption_2
The first step´s of the Eruption
A volcanic eruption in Gamat forced flight cancellations and the closure of airspace over the country's four international airports, an official said.
"There are no international flights in or out of the Fovazh at this time," Kjiadvíck International Airport spokeswoman Anna Hjordisdottir said.
Officials will reassess the situation at midnight (8 p.m. EDT), she added.
Flights are being cancelled and the Airlines and Airports are expecting closures and delays because of the Eruption, so do not expect flights from Althena for this days, also flights to Althena are almost all cancelled, and none is expected, Althena's umbrella air traffic control association Althenacontrol said.
Ash is expected to reach Utrova Today, and could enter the South of Posillipo and Insulo by Tommorrow, Althenacontrol said.
The ash cloud's movement is difficult to predict; but is predicted to cover the hole Western Althena and could get as far as to Peilan.
Ash could reach the north of Posillipo and northern continental Althena on Thursday, she said.
The Askivötn volcano under the Vatnajökull glacier erupted Yesterday, according to the Gamat´s Meteorological Office.
A dark cloud of smoke rose from the glacier, and scientists flew over the scene to evaluate the event, according to Landsfréttir affiliate RÚV Fréttir. The last eruption of the volcano was in 2004, RÚV reported.
"It is important for people to know that all of Gamat is covered in ash," Hjordisdottir said.
Sitrun Kapissón, manager of the Gamætia Hotel Sigur, which is close to Yesterday's eruption, said she could see a cloud of smoke over the mountains, and ash was falling around the hotel.
Police were telling her and others that there was no need to evacuate and there was nothing to fear, Kapissón said. "We see it very well," she said.
Tourists at the hotel were excited to see the eruption, watching the events unfold while eating dinner, she said.
"It happens every 10 years," she said. "It mostly produces water."
Askivötn is Gamat's most frequently active volcano. In 1783, a 16.7-mile fissure system from the volcano produced the Adonia's largest known historical lava flow over a seven-month period, damaging crops and livestock.
"This is the worst ash cloud Adonia has ever seen," she added.

Stay tuned for more

At 10:23, ash has reported to have reached Utrovan airspace, earlier than expected. Also at 13:09 and 13:53, two BMV - 777 Cargo planes crashed into the Utrovan forests. All airports are now closed.

All flights of Air Auridia, Aelon Aero and Raelion Airlines to the western Althena are cancelled, hovewer Air Nephlon still flies to western Althena with few special aeroplane models capable of avoiding ash danger, but only from Trentannia, Posillipo and surrounding states. Flights to the rest of world will be operating.

Propeller Airplanes can´t fly in ash conditions, and even if he couldn´t fly to Posillipo because it already closed its Airspace as almost all nations in Western Adonia.

Rocket-powered airplanes' engines can survive ash, but what airport (besides a military one) can service such a plane anyways? Razz

they can? I don't think so that's why Rockets can't fly on Ash too, and Rocket Commercial Planes DO NOT Exist on Adonia.

Barley any rocket powered airplanes exist, and also they get lodged in windows, causes cracks, and the ash is hazy and hard to see.

Althenan countries extended their airspace restrictions yesterday, choking international air travel and stranding thousands of passengers, as a Gamic volcano continued to spew ash into the atmosphere.

Airspace over Posillipo, Utrova, Insulo and other 26 will be closed until Monday night, according to the Trentannian air traffic control provider NTATC and the Orkov Romanovich Airport, Erikkson International Airport and Posilliponian Air Control.
Logistics Global, Lofti Airways, PoillipoAIR, InsulAir and over +100 Airlines canceled all flights to and from Western Althena for all of Monday 28 November through Monday 12 December.

The ash cloud is drifting North and westward over Althena. Although barely visible in the air, the ash -- made up of tiny particles of rock, glass, and sand -- poses a serious threat to aircraft, stalling engines and causing electrical failure, experts have said this week.

Past incidents of aircraft trying to fly through volcanic ash clouds and suffering damage and engine failure led Althenan officials to shut their air spaces rather than risk a catastrophe, said Adam Sidmonds, an official at Althenacontrol, a intergovernmental body that manages Althenan air travel.

"I cannot say whether it's an overreaction or underreaction," Sidmonds said Yesterday. "I think everybody is working in the interest of safety. We understand the impact to the airlines ... but safety comes first."

It was unclear when the situation would end, because the volcano was still erupting and spewing ash yesterday, said Agust Gunnarsson, a project manager at Gamat's Department of Civil Protection and Emergency Management.

"We cannot tell how long an eruption like this will go on," Gunnarsson told RUV and Frettir.

The eruption began November 24 beneath the Askavotn glacier in southern Gamat, blowing a hole in the ice. It worsened this week, forcing local evacuations and eventually affecting Althenan airspace.

Experts Say: No end to volcano ash in sight

When the volcano last erupted in 1931, the eruption lasted on and off for two years, Gunnarsson said.
