This is the official newspaper of the Republic. I will be doing in text until I install Photoshop so until then bear with me Razz

Crises in Fraesia

Today, in an unprecedented move, the Marqualis government has approved a major battle group to head to Fraesia to assist with Acadian forces in maintaining peace in the troubled nation. This follows the departure of foreign delegates who are overseeing the formation of a new government. The delegates, as well as the army and navy are to remain in Fraesia until the nation has stabilized though no forces are to engage unless engaged upon.

The fleet in question is composed of two Titan class Aircraft Carriers as well as four Titan class battleships with numerous other vessels for a total combined fleet of 25 ships and over 20,000 sailors. The government has sent 40,000 troops as well in transport carriers. The delegates however were flown in to the capital. More on this as it develops.

Election Central

A vote of no-confidence has been called in parliament hill triggering elections. This comes just days before a new government initiative to dismantle Marqualis's Nuclear arsenal. Officials are saying that this bill would breach the constitutional right of the country and would cost billions of dollars. The vote was cast by opposition leader Frank Cellious, head of the Socialist party.

The elections will begin next week, with candidates given only 2 weeks to campaign before the final days and the new prime minister announced. Ibrahim, leader of Republican party is a strong candidate to win this election, being newly elected as head of the party. The three candidates are set to battle it out in the coming weeks for voters. As usual, all people capable of voting, will be required to.

New Science Project

The Marqualis Scientific Community of Physics (MSCP) has recently applied for a grant from the government to build a high energy collider. The project in question is estimated to cost 100 billion pounds and will require 1 terawatt of electricity. The facility would be able to accelerate particles to 99.9999999999 percent the speed of light and collide inside state of the art detectors. The scientific community would also like a separate power source as to not strain civilian plants and cause nation wide power outages. Scientist would also like the government to connect with other scientific communities so that results can be shared. The government has yet to comment.

We asked several civilians on the request made by MSCP and these are the responses received.

I don't like it at all. I think the government should say no and not allow it to be brought up anymore. This is dangerous and I don't want to live in a country that is dangerous. If the government was smart, they would say no!

I like the idea, I mean the government should fund things liks this that will benefit all of mankind rather than destroy it. Scientist are just trying to learn more about the universe around us and I think that they should have that chance to. This would help make a better and brighter future for our children.

How could you send your navy if Fraesia's a landlocked nation? Or are you just having them sit off the coast of Acadia.

Whoa! Thanks for all the help! We really could have used that while the actual combat was occurring. Razz

I assume they will be traveling via some canal/river in Acadia that links to the lake under Fraesia. I'm thinking about introducing a St. Lawrence River project, with a different name of course, on Adonia.

Well considering the tonnage and displacement of the Titan class ships, that would be to risky both for the ships and the canal itself, so the ships will be moored in the bay on the south of Acadia where the old Fraesian territory was before it was annexed by Acadia Razz Though the troop transports won't have a problem (considering they displace 45,000 tonnes).

Target sites: Acadia

With the court case breaking down in Acadia's favour, Folland officials are debating on whether or not to place an Ultimatum on Acadia. This is seen as a final gesture of defiance of the Acadian occupation of Fraesia. Though no official word has been confirmed, the two government are exchanging remarks. Marqualis officials see it as a way for Folland to hinder peace in the troubled nation.

Election Central

Days after a vote of no confidence was announced, the government has been dissolved. This is bad news as Marqualis is facing international pressure to disarm its nuclear arsenal and several trading routes have been closed. Though no official word from the government has been given, sources are saying that there will be an increase in development of weaponized warheads. The total number given now is 30 nuclear missiles on standby though many fear that number could be more. Campaigning will begin in a couple of days as parties try to receive the most seats.

Crises in Fraesia

In other news, the fleet that was dispatched from Marqualis to assist Acadia in Fraesia has arrived. The hips mooring off the south coast of Acadia as the troop transport continue on through the canal to land directly on Fraesian territory. The government has said that it expects things to go smoothly and the troops to be out by the end of the month though there are always chances that war can break out. The Aircraft Carriers have launched combat patrols into Fraesia to keep a birds eye view of the country, flying over major cities only.

Collider on the rocks!

The request made by the MSCP could be delayed as more and more countries see it as a secret project to develop more nuclear weapons. The government has assured the international community that this is purely for scientific reasons and that the results would be shared wholly by the entire world, however, some countries are still saying that this is just a gimmick for the government to offset costs. The fate of this project will be decided in a couple of days.

Crises in Fraesia

The Acadian government continues to face pressure from several USNW members. The pressure is issued to resolve the government issue in Fraesia and to withdraw all foreign forces from the troubled nations. Already facing several sanctions from member nations, Acadian officials have picked up the pace before it escalates.

Election Central

Tomorrow is a big day as candidates are set to debate each other over pressing issues. This will lead onto campaigning where the candidates will then have 1 week to win over as many votes as possible. The debate is set to happen in the Capital Arcis, in the legislature building. Security has been stepped up to ensure no security hazards can occur. The Candidates will be announced tomorrow.

Riots!

Riots gripped the city of Mardiania as a new tax rate was announced to pay for the increasing cost of healthcare. The riot, which was peaceful at first, quickly escalated into violence, with theft and fighting occurring. The police have taken a no remorse rule and will arrest anyone who gets out of line. Several shop keepers are upset with losing their businesses to vandals stating that they are shocked people can do such a thing. The riots are expected to end by 9 tonight

Missile testing

Citizens near the town of Myro can expect to get an early wake up call this Thursday as the military will be conducting missile tests. The military is saying that these are not armed, but rather duds sent to test out the defence systems of Marqualis. The military will be joining the rest of the Ministry of Defence next week when the war games are expected to start.

Neutral I thought we somewhat agreed on this in our PM coversation. Please no more of this. All Fraesian rebels surrendered to Acadia in exchange for immunity a while ago. I'm glad that you want to create roleplay, but this will definitely hurt Fraesia, Acadia, and probably Marqualis.

Crises in Fraesia

The standing government of Marqualis have stated that they will be withdrawing all forces from Fraesia. The motive for the withdrawal is believed to be the start of the war games in the Calern Gulf. The government has also stated that it has no future plans of entering Fraesia to assist Acadia with the occupation. We have yet to hear from Acadian officials.

Election Central

Tomorrow signals that start of the campaign runs for the separate parties. This comes as the parliament was dissolved and the candidates have debated. The country is torn between parties as a quick pole showed 25% support for all there major parties and 25% for others/NA. The candidates list is expected to be released tomorrow.

Gold

The finance minister has just announced that the Marqualis Gold Reserve (MGR) will be moving to a more secure location. The gold will be airlifted to its new home by Monday under heavy security. He has also announced that the government will be increasing its gold reserve to increase the currency in circulation. They plan to buy out several gold mines located in Valium.

Election Central

The elections are now well under way with each candidate campaigning for votes across the nation of Marqualis. While there are many parties, the big three continue to lead the elections with roughly 30% votes each. The USNW watch carefully as the candidates campaign hoping for the Socialist party to win. All candidate information can be viewed on the official page.
