Judicial Addition Amendment/Amendment Proposal VI

To increase the efficiency of the High Court of the United Sovereign Nations, and to avoid any potential conflict of interests in which the Consul of the High Court may find himself, we wish to propose, via an amendment to the Union Charter, the addition of a new office for the Judiciary: the office of Vice-Consul. This amendment, should it be approved, will become the Second Charter Amendment, and will be added to the Charter as Chapter Four, Section Two, Clauses A-F.

II. To assist the Consul of the High Court in his functions, the office of Vice-Consul shall be created.
a. The Vice-Consul shall be responsible for all duties of the Consul in the event that the Consul is unable to perform his office.
b. Unless his services are required, the Vice-Consul will function as an ordinary member of the Union.
c. Candidates for the office must be a full member to be elected.
d. The Vice-Consul shall be elected by the International Assembly and must obtain a majority of yeas to be elected.
e. Should there be a lack of candidates for the office, the Executive Department shall select someone to fill the position.
f. The Vice-Consul shall serve six month terms.

Though some may feel this isn't needed I like it. I support it!

Rheinland approves the proposal in it's entirety.

Yeah I'm Okay with that

Troix approves of this proposal; however, we can name this person as a 'registrar' rather than a 'vice-consul'.

Sounds like a good idea to me, you'd have my approval if it went to vote.

I support this even though the consul is an uber exciting job in itself. Razz

Basically, this law would standardize the process which enables the Consul to take others to court Wink (right now, to prevent a conflict of interests, the First Minister is the unofficial temporary Consul when the Consul is in court; however, after the upcoming elections, I'll be both Consul and First Minister, which would mess things up a bit Razz )

I believe, that, with two abstentions, leaving over 80% of voters in favor, that this bill has passed - hasn't it, Kurt?

No, it's not, Amendments require 2/3 of the union, not 2/3 of the voters. Also, note that the recent change to Assembly procedure does not affect Amendments, in it's language it only affects "Acts", Amendments need to require the whole union because we're amending the founding document.
