June 2011 Emergency Elections

We will be having emergency elections coming up this month for the following offices:

Offices open for filling

• Ministry of Defense - Minister of Defense
  
• Ministry of Transportation - Minister of Transportation
  
• Ministry of Energy - Minister of Energy
  
• Office of the Consulate - Consul

All full members are able to run for the offices of Minister of Defense, Minister of Transportation, and Minister of Energy.
All full members with membership lasting over three months are allowed to run for Consul.

Candidates must receive a regular majority, 51%, of Yeas from the members of the International Assembly and may not vote for themselves.

A forum will be set up in the "Events Happening Now" category and all of those who would like to run must be nominated by a member of government, who may be an ambassador to the International Assembly. The nominator must create a thread to nominate the other person in the Election Forum, and then the nominee must create another thread (preferably titled in red [the little menu to the right of the title thing changes the color]) with their campaign. There will not be much time to campaign so get started!

• The Twenty-Sixth of June, Two-thousand Eleven through The Thirty-first of June, Two-thousand Eleven - Voting
  

The elected leaders will serve the remaining term, which ends the Fourteenth of August.

what exactly are the responsibilities of the minister of defence? I've got only a vague idea...

They aren't really written down yet, and I plan on getting a topic up with the responsibilities of each ministry, and they can be changed under each First Minister, but for the Minister of Defense his/her main job for me will be to coordinate the protection of the member states from other organizations and also from outside forces of any kind really.

That, to me, sounds vaguely like the foreign affairs ministry

No, foreign affairs deals with the relationships with outside organizations and other unions, and the ministry of defense organizes the defense from outside NPC countries and other organizatiosn on Adonia. Not to mention we don't have a foreign affairs Ministry anymore, that was dissolved and put in the place of the First Minister.

NPC countries? Then that would be whatever Marsh has right now then....

May I ask the reason for the elections? Is it just because these positions are not filled? Just curious

K50, you don't understand anything, I said organizing defense from those countries if one decided to attack, I didn't say controlling them, and that is what marsh does. He manages the planet and runs non player country affairs, he doesn't organize defense if they decide to attack us.
