So I wanted to create a separate topic for the current war I want to role play so that my other news forum doesn't become clogged up.
Day 1
History
a before and after of the annexation of the islands.
The two islands close to Valium did not always belong to Marqualis. They were part of the Gapomas island chain that was under Talagua control. However, Marqualis and Talagua never saw eye to eye and the islands made many complications both for Air travel and shipping as the boundary lines were always disputed. Then during the Great Adonian War, tensions rose higher as Marqualis tried shipping supplies to help the war effort and Talagua navy ships kept pestering them. Finally, during the final stretch of the war, Marqualis sent its navy and annexed the islands and added them to the nation. Talagua was not pleased and sent its own navy as well as air force to fight back and try and regain control. This was a futile attempt as the sheer number of Marqualis ships overwhelmed Talagua navy forces which where quickly destroyed. Fearing destruction and another war, Talagua gave up efforts to try and regain the islands, swearing that they would get revenge. The recent bombing of the Mineral Acquisition Company coal mine on the island furthest North was that revenge. War was declared against Talagua.
Day one saw the Marqualis Navy move in with troop carriers to the South most islands as air strikes were carried out from an air force base stationed on Valium. The navy plans to island hope gaining control of each island and destroying any military complexes and units on the way to the mainland.
The MNS Capara fires it's massive 16 inch guns on the island of Gomaga, the largest island close to Marqualis. The deafening roar of the ship could be heard for miles as the ship bombards the port and airport to prepare for troop carriers to land.
A view of the island with a destroyer in the foreground. the picture shows the devastation caused by the shelling.
A Talagua ship carrying troops and supplies was trying to escape. Luckily a MNS destroyer saw it and opened fire. as you can see, the shelling as well as torpedo strike ensure this ship heads to the bottom.
As day one begins, the intense shelling by the navy, combined with the air strikes overwhelms the forces stationed on Gomaga. The death toll is believe to be in the hundreds as the shipping port and airport are completely destroyed. Several Talagua military units tried to escape to no avail as they were quickly destroyed. troop carriers started sending troops onto the island to capture it as the air force continued to provide air cover.
