Please click here to read the act

Of course all opinions are welcome, changes to the act are still completely in question at this point, this is just something I think the union needs. For both sides of the argument.

I'd do away with the two-month-rule and instead have the people that resign say when they think they will be able to return. They give a date, their land is protcted until that date and if they are not back by that date their land is no longer protected. Otherwise it's fine for me.

Qorten, Surely if you were going and then returning you would just go on leave? Or have I misunderstood? Razz

Yes, of course I'd ask to be put on-leave.

Well, I see I've maybe misinterpreted the issue. I think that people that resign officially revoke any claim to the land they had and what happens with it should depend on the people that are left in the union. For instance I wouldn't think about saying that we'd get rid of Posillipo, because it was there from the beginning and has been around way too long to be deleted. Laagvlatke, Calma Domhain or Greater Morsco on the other hand are a different matter entirely.

I say it sounds rather valid, but of those who switch countries like me, going from Grand Aescail to Nilia and Albian, would these people still claim the first plot of land until it's said they won't or would it be automatically okay to edit as Grand Aescail already has been.

Can we add a permanent protection option? Maybe for major nations who contributed substantially to another member's history/roleplay?

Maybe it can be semi-protected; where a new member can make that country theirs after the original owner resigned, but the name must remain the same. The size/shape of the country cannot be modified dramatically, either.

I agree with you completely Qorten, I was just trying to be kind of moderate in the law because some people don't like taking away all the rights after resignation. I agree that if you resign you should loose all of your rights to your land, that the only reason you'd need control over the land is if you return, and if you plan on returning you should just be put on leave.

As for permanent protection, I think maybe a clause should be added for countries like Trentannia, Insulo, and Posillipo to a certain extent, countries that most of the world's history is centered around.

Here's an "amendment" to your Act which I have no problems over.

If the user who requested their nation to be put on protected status and does not return, said nation will be removed from Protected Status and be available for new member use. However that nation will retain it's previous history and actions, and a member with interest in said nation should agree to roleplay within the bounds of the already established history.

This will benefits both sides. The land remains up for grabs for likely newcommers, while the rest of us can still retain usual roleplay with the nation, like the past user never left. The new user will just have to agree to roleplay within the already established history of the country. In example, if I left, and Folland remained on the world map as itself but available, a new user would have to agree to roleplay within the history and decisions I've already made for Folland if he wants that nation. Of course the user is free to not agree and choose another NPC. But this still keep the option open to keep the old nation and continue our roleplay.

It's now been about 9 days since the last post (mine) and I believe it's time to vote on this sucker. However we need to make a decision on my amendment to your Act, if you'd like to accept it or not. Then I can move this to the Voting chamber.
