Goal
to determine the causes, practices, and effects of the Adonia World War

What we already know

1945

January 7th: Athanos, Posillipo bombed by Kyriakos. 100's killed.
January 8th: Posillipo launches counter attack, attacking Carthos, the capital of Kyriakos.
Official start of the Adonia World War.
1948
April 27th: 8 Serindriean boats, doing training exercises, sank in the Alcadean Sea by Trentannia. Over 2,000 were left dead.
April 29th: Serindriea officially enters the Adonia World War.
May 4th: Battle of the Vascan. A major naval battle in the Vascan Sea. Also the first fighting between Serindriea and Trentannia. Multiple battleships were sunk, as well as a Trentannian aircraft carrier. Casualties estimated at 1,232 for both sides.

marsh wrote:Lieutenant Johnson, my commanding officer, called me over to his side. He seemed to like me after frequent talks across the Vascan sea. He informed me of the mission we had. Detailing of the route and stops, ect; As well as our landing location in northern Trentannia. A newspaper lay on the table. Published a few weeks ago, probably obtained back in the country. It read:

--April 29th, 1948--
After years of controversial actions made by Trentannia, the people of Serendriea has been enraged by the most recent one. A major attack on a Naval fleet preforming tests and training in the Alcadean. 3 Cruisers, 4 destroyers and an aircraft carrier where all sunk in this single attack. The attack was unknown to the troops on those ships, and left over 2,000 dead. Serindriea immediately took this as an act of war, in a planet already in a state of extreme unrest and global war. Drafts are now in affect in Serindriea. 1.5 million citizens have already been shipped off.

Lesson plan
1. belligerents (what countries were involved) [incomplete]
2. causes [incomplete]
3. practices [incomplete]
4. effects [incomplete]

please put in bolded text the key words of each topic.

First question: What countries were involved in the Adonian World War?

I know that New Friscia and Posillipo were involved in the war against Trentannia.

I know that Grand had been occupied by Trentannia since 1941, that Belluterra was involved in the war with Trentannia against New Friscia and Posillipo, and also that Malo was neutral at first, but later became a vital supplier of oil to Posillipo.

Clarification on the situation in Grand: When Grand was invaded by Trentannia, the reigning King, Francis V, along with his council and his household, was forced to flee the nation to avoid imprisonment and possible death at the hands of the Trentannian authorities. Several small Grandian warships that were on patrol at the time, along with the one they fled on, became the fleet of Free Grand, A resistance movement was started in Grand, which often included violent skirmishes, and on three occasions, full-scale battle, before the Liberation of Grand.

What date was Grand invaded and subsequently occupied by Trentannia?
What was the reason for the invasion of Grand?
Where did the King flee to?

1) September 15th, 1941
2)
Ostensibly "to liberate Grand from the injustices suffered under their King" (and also, a 500-year or so old claim to Grand)
3) Posillipo

The Chandler Republic and Royal Ashton (which would combine into New Chandler in the late 1950's) were NOT involved in the Adonia World War.

I have more info:

During the Trentannian invasion of Grand, the Grandian Ensunans, descendants of a short-lived Insulonian colony in Grand, sided with the Trentannians and Belluterrans, and as reward, were granted Lamer province and some of the surrounding territory, to become the independent Ensunan Democratic Republic. The EDR, like the Grand Republic, collapsed at the end of the war, and was returned to Grand.

The following statement does not apply to Insulo, who made it clear that his nation was neutral throughout the war.

Alright guys, a project will be initiated this week that will cover the Adonia World War. The info that was failed to be provided by you on YOUR nation's involvement in the war in this thread will not be included. Your interpretation of the war thus may not be that of the project. Instead it will be fabricated without your consent.

I suggest you provide as much information as you can until that point.

During the 1940's and 1950's, Calma Domhain was focusing on domestic socialist reform during a 36 years stretch of single party socialist rule, which ended in 1964 with the second Calman Civil War. The Republic of Calma Domhain remained neutral in what is domestically known as the Western International Conflict of 1945-19??.

As Matt has said, he and I will be heading a project that will involve the creation of a union youtube chanell, which will be in the nav bar soon, on which we will post videos that explain history much like this:

Our first project is the Adonian World War, so like Matt said, if you don't post your information here, it will be fabricated, this excludes Insulo and New Chandler who weren't involved.

The New Frsician military is by convention controlled by the Governor, the viceroy of the Posilliponian monarch. We followed Posilliponian policy during the war and declared war with Kyriakos at the same time they did. Subsequently, Trentannia invaded Brennsland and then New Friscia which brought us into war with them.

One cause of the war:
During the Decades War in the 18th century, Posillipo captured the Trentannian colony of Brennsland. Trentannia took every opportunity to recapture Brennsland due to its rich mineral deposists. The following century saw the Brennslandian Uprising, a failed revolt heavily supported by the Trentannian government.

During the war, Free Grand had only one large ship, the battleship RGNS Royal, and so was unable to fight full-scale naval battles with the enemy powers on its own. Thus, the battleship took to cruising with the Posilliponian Navy most of the time, while the smaller ships, about 6 in total, mostly took to commerce raiding and quick attacks on Trentannian posessions here and there. Belluterra, allied with Trentannia for most of the war, officially declared itself neutral near the war's end, to prevent itself from being invaded. Nevertheless, there were some battles in Belluterra after its declaration of neutrality, as most of the Regal Powers disregarded the declaration.

Non-Intervention
The Kingdom of Ruteria originally pursued a policy of non-intervention, avoiding conflict while trying to broker a peace. When a Trentannian Ship sank the Ruterian Liner Royal Seas in 1947, with 234 Ruterians aboard, King Jaime vowed, "Ruteria will fight for those inoccent lives" and demanded an end to attacks on passenger ships. He repeatedly warned Trenntania. would not tolerate unrestricted submarine warfare, in violation of international law and Ruterian ideas of human rights. H.M.R Jaime's desire to have a seat at negotiations at war's end to advance the other countries also played a role. H.M.R Jame's Secretary of State. Public opinion was angered at suspected Trentannian sabotage of the the New Panutra Explosion.
Jame announced the break of official relations with Trentannia on 6 September 1948.
The Kingdom of Ruteria was a formally a member of the Regal Powers. The Rutera had a large army, but, after the passage of the Military Service, it drafted 3.2 million men and by summer 1949 was sending 10,000 fresh soldiers to Posillipo every day. In 1949.
The Ruterian Navy sent a battleship group to Insulo and Free Grand to join with the Free Grandian Fleet, destroyers to Ulive, Trenntania. The Insolunians and Possiliponians wanted Ruterian units used to reinforce their troops already on the battle lines and not waste scarce shipping on bringing over supplies. The Ruterians rejected the first proposition and accepted the third.
Trentannian Winter Offensive of 1950
Trentannian General Erik Muner drew up plans (codenamed Operation Muner) for the 1950 offensive on Itzamna. The winter Offensive sought to divide the Ruterian and New Friscian forces with a series of feints and advances. The Trentannian leadership hoped to strike a decisive blow before significant Ruterian forces arrived. The operation commenced on 21 November 1950 with an attack on Trenntanian forces near Caen, Posillipo. Trentannian forces achieved an unprecedented advance of 70 kilometres (50 miles).
Ruterian trenches were penetrated using novel infiltration tactics, also named Z-tactics, after General Oscar de Zerna. Previously, attacks had been characterised by long artillery bombardments and massed assaults. However, in the Winter Offensive of 1950, Trentannia used artillery only briefly and infiltrated small groups of infantry at weak points. They attacked command and logistics areas and bypassed points of serious resistance. More heavily armed infantry then destroyed these isolated positions. Trentannian success relied greatly on the element of surprise.
Many Trentannians thought victory was near. After heavy fighting, however, the offensive was halted. Lacking tanks or motorised artillery, the Trentannians were unable to consolidate their gains. This situation was not helped by the supply lines now being stretched as a result of their advance. The sudden stop was also a result of the four Ruterian Royal Force divisions that were "rushed" down, thus doing what no other army had done and stopping the Trenntanian advance in its tracks. During that time the first Ruterian division was hurriedly sent north again to stop the third Trentannian breakthrough.
Regal victory: summer and autumn 1956
Having suffered over 5 million casualties, Trentannia moved towards peace.Telegraphic negotiations with King Jaime began immediately, in the vain hope that better terms would be offered than by the Regals. There was no resistance when the social democrat Manuel Nyol on 7 September declared Trentannia to be a republic. Facsist Trentannia was dead; a new Trentannia had been born.

objectives to be fulfilled as a result of recent contribs:
- definition of international law and how/where/why it was created

-----------
Ale:
- there was no formaility in the membership of the war's two alliances.

- INSULO WAS NEUTRAL. it was not involved in anything.

- " The operation commenced on 21 November 1950 with an attack on Trenntanian forces near Caen, Posillipo. Trentannian forces achieved an unprecedented advance of 70 kilometres (50 miles)." I hope you mean either Ruterian or New Friscian forces...

- Trentannia is currently a monarchy.

great work ale! thank you for the contribution!

During the Adonian World War Torshia was allied with Trentannia but then invaded and occupied by Posillipo.
Torshia was unable to maintain its policy of Allying with Trentannia when in 1946 Posillipo invaded, occupied and bombed the country, destroying 90% of it, due to its strategic location on the invasion route into Trentannia and Surechia, wich didvided into 2 independent countries The Peoples Republic of Surechia and Republica Surechia. In contrast to the Adonian World War experience, Torshia was treated as a Posilliponian territory and informally annexed to an adjacent province of Neaureax in 1953. Torshia was treated as a Independant State until 16 of September of 1972. by the treaty of Broven.

After the evacuation to Posillipo, King Francis V, the Grandian King at the time, appointed his son-in-law Gregory d'Orchine, as the High Admiral of the Free Grandian Navy, as he was the highest remaining officer in the Free Grandian Navy. With Posilliponian permission, he had several destoyers built in the Posilliponian shipyards, to aid the tiny Free Grandian Navy. d'Orchine himself was killed in a bombing raid on the Posilliponian capital in 1950, and was buried at sea.
