Planning and Building the City of Hinali, Follvirkeland
Alright, so. With New Uniden come to a (sudden) end as Follvirkeland's capital city, I'm going to be building a NEW one. This city has already been established as a canon city within Follvirkeland on her northeastern shore. But not much about it was said. It shall be expanded upon here then.
Hinali, is a bustling, economically booming metro area that; like New Uniden, was at the very beginning a Logging port colony from Mervey which grew exponentially after the Great Adonian War. Unlike New Uniden however, Hinali wasn't regulated as strictly by it's building codes. The city grew upwards and outwards. It's downtown area hosts numerous big businesses that have offices all over Itzamna, Euphemia and Althena. As is custom to Follvirkeland cities, Farmland surrounds the city's outskirts on all sides, and has a neighboring shipping port just up the coast North of the city. Back in the day, Hinali was up as a candidate for Follvirkeland's Capital city, but New Uniden won out the bid, it being the original settlement. However now after the 7.9 Quake Disaster, Chancellor Moen and his Council have no choice but to proclaim Hinali, Capital of the Republic of Follvirkeland.
This city is gonna be big. The region I downloaded is quite flat in a lot of places, meaning PLENTY of sprawl room. I've already terraformed the city proper. It's got two rivers running through it and sits right on the coast of what was once a delta, but 'God Mode' filled up a bit of it. Below is my planned sections of the city.
Yellow being an Industrial sector with a small port on it's banks. Blue being the city's Commercial center. Lots of medium and high density Commercial with the usual skyscraper ploppables, and Green being the surrounding housing. Although I can't zone yet until I'm finished laying down the transit networks. I want GLR running through downtown before I even think about plopping anything. Not to mention my Heavy Rail network. Big city like this has to have a Train Station.
If any of you have suggestions, like where to place specialty "things" then go ahead! Like a central park or whatnot. Let's hope this turns out well.
