We have understood that this is your position on the matter since you announced the possible cancellation of the pipeline several days ago.1Pat wrote:1. The Polandrian Imperium does not condone a pipeline going through its territory nor do the Takesians, Rallistanians and other DEFENTAS members, as we have our own lines per our DEFENTAS agreement.
We wish to clarify that did not veto it ourselves, but rather requested a vote to see whether cancellation of the Forgian Proposal was approved by the majority of the Union. With the exception of those who abstained, wishing to stay out of the political and physical conflict between Forgia and Malo, 75% of the union voted in favor of the Pipeline going through Polandria instead of through Malo's enemies.2. The Imperial Federal Kingdom was the one that got the Forgian Proposal vetoed.
We have never disputed this right, merely expressed our disappointment for your engaging in this cancellation.3. Polandria has every right not to allow the gas line and so does Takesian and any other DEFENTAS member.
As we mentioned before, the decision was made by majority vote in the Union. All we did was ask for a run-off vote between the two proposals. We would also point out that had Proposal 2 been accepted, the Imperial Federal Kingdom would have cancelled its share of funding for the Pipeline (which makes up a considerable percentage), and Malo would have raised its prices in protest; we may have also intensified our ongoing war against Forgia and Zebtesia to ensure that they could not follow through with constructing their segment of pipeline. Therefore, at the time of voting, voting for Proposal 2 would have raised the cost of oil and gas worldwide - not the other way around. Therefore your nation's decision to veto Proposal 2 is the reason gas prices will shoot up when Polandria vetoes the proposal by your nation to place a pipeline on our nation without consent.
Although we would prefer it if the pipeline would pass through your nation, we understand if you wish to cancel its construction; in your place, we might do the same thing. However, as mentioned before, we were not the only nation to vote on a cancellation of the Forgian connections. As we stated before, please take account of your nation's role in the vetoing of Proposal 2 and the fact that you can not legally place a pipeline in our lands without our consent.
We never disputed the fact that we voted against having it pass through Forgia and Zebtesia; however, our Viceroyalty has been at war with them since 1947 - during the Great Adonian War - and thus it would be impudent for us to vote in favor of Proposal 2. Furthermore, we would like to point out that at the time the Union made the descision, Polandria did not seem to object to the pipeline passing through its territory. If you had objected back then, the current situation could have been solved with a lot less trouble. We have read through the proposals and saw your vote to cancel Proposal 2, after deciding without us that there would be a pipeline through Polandria.
As mentioned before, it was not solely us who voted against Proposal 2. Excluding abstentions, 75% of the Union made the same decision as we did. Therefore, as stated before, our nation would not in any way raise gas prices, as it is your nation that originally vetoed Proposal 2 without first taking into account Polandria's stance.
