The fabric of a country’s bilateral relations is a traditional dimension of its diplomacy and foreign policy. Thus, Bruellen continues to invest in the range of its bilateral relations with neighbouring and distant countries alike. Here you can find basic information on Bruellen's bilateral relations by country, as well as useful information for Bruellans who wish to travel abroad and foreigners (by country of origin) who want to travel to Bruellen.

THIS COMMUNIQUE WAS TRANSLATED FROM BRUELLAN TO TRENTANNIAN UNDER SUPERVISION OF IDFA STAFF.

The government of the Brüllen Federation officially condemns the action of the Follandan government in its invasion of the non-aggressive nation of Fraesia. We call for the immediate withdrawal of forces from Fraesian soil. We hope that other nations will join our plea for the restoration of Fraesia's right and independence.

Brüllen Federation

Official Communique from the government of the Brüllen Federation

As a result of the Invasion of Fraesia, the government of the Brüllen Federation hereby imposes trade and travel sanctions upon the Republic of Folland. These sanctions are as follows:

  • All Brüllen-bound imports (including Reintania, United Vassalies, East Bergenstein and Shaltavians) shall require a tariff of 85% to be paid to the government of the Brüllen Federation.
  • No weapons, ammunition, military vehicles, or other battle/occupation supplies may be imported into Folland.
  • Planes of Folland origin shall not fly in Brüllan airspace.
  • All Folland ships must leave Brüllan ports.
  • No employees of the Folland government may enter Brüllen, unless granted special permission.
  • Civilians may enter with special permit.

The government of the Federation once again questions Folland's stability. A stable government's characteristics do not include such an inexcusable, reckless action. These sanctions may be lifted once the following terms are met:

  • Folland pulls all military out of Fraesia's borders.
  • Folland officially apologizes and promises to not intervene with or harass Fraesia again.

The government of the Brüllen Federation advises that the Follandan government remove any forces from Fraesia, as they are currently in breach of international law. It is our duty, as a nation of the world, to protect the integrity and freedom of the people. This is why we are looking closely into the situation as Folland violates Fraesia's freedom.

We may take the necessary steps in ensuring Fraesia's freedom and independence.

Audric Hochstetler

Well, from a geopolitical perspective; the sanctions would terribly disrupt trade not just in Folland, but also in countries that are interconnected with it, ie. the East Althenian Group. Sanctions would essentially decrease the commodity prices of Follandian goods, which would affect the income of sellers and resellers of materials and tools around the world. A country might be dependent on Folland's ferrous deposits and a full shutdown of that industry would affect the manufacturing sector of that country. In turn, the lack of supplies would mean a shortage of let say, a microchip for the Okaiken's technology sector... which is a lose-lose situation back to your countries because you won't get new technological gadgets. You are also essentially cutting a major supplier to the local and regional markets, and not just partially, the whole system is affected, from tourists to businessmen.

I say we rethink about sanctions to a point where it doesn't affect nations. Try for example, a freeze of accounts for the Moen Family (example not to be copied). Then try a freeze of weapon-making materials Razz

You hear constant talk of how North Korea has sanctions. That's cause what the hell does anyone import from North Korea? A lot of countries would hurt from a loss of trade with Folland. Let bygones be bygones and keep buying my metals.

Putting sanctions on Folland would only increase the pressure, as nations might be hurting due to them. Razz

It won't really affect that much non-Euphemian nations, Carl. Can always change business partners. NK has heavy sanctions and is literally starving. It's dependent on the aid from the US, SK, China and Russia, mainly from China. The point of sanctions is to do a domino effect so that other nations will be affected and will put sanctions themselves on Folland so it will stop what it is doing.

Well that's not fair is it? Put sanctions on the country that originally posted sanctions, since they caused the domino effect in the first place.
