i'd like to settle that dispute with this concrete evidence. Wink Razz

besides I never claimed we were the first in space. i claimed it was the first photo of the planet from space. Wink

That's also disputable Razz

I actually don't believe it is, seeing as the New Friscians have a photo, which is kinda hard evidence. Razz

But what about satellites? Surely they took photos of Adonia before humans did... Razz

maybe he meant the first photo taken of the entire planet? I'm not willing to dispute that... Razz

not the point Wink

here's your argument in a different scenario:

i'm in a 40-yard dash. i place first. however, you come along and say "surely you didn't place first" and claim you did. but you weren't even in the race.

see what i mean? Very Happy anyway, it's not a big deal. if you want your space agency as the first to capture a photo of Adonia from space, then by all means.

I'm not saying that... Razz

I was just saying others might dispute that, unless they decide not to Razz

I'm just trying to say that it's kind of unrealistic to have the first photo of Adonia from space a photo of the whole planet, unless either the spacecraft was returning from of going to Adonia's moon, or some other factor I'm not aware of. (I'm not sure, but I think Adonia is slightly bigger than Earth.)

I think it's only fair that Matt gets to be the first in space, since it's obvious he knows the most about it, and he kind of made the picture.... Razz I'd vote for New Friscia to be the first country in space.

alot of things "disputable" in your statement:

1) you shouldn't compare this image to the apollo 17 mission. just because that was their method, doesn't mean it's ours. adonia ≠ earth.

2) nothing on the photo suggests anything about the size of adonia.

3) there are other ways to capture an image of the planet without using the method of the apollo program (going to the moon).
-- manned spaceflight elliptical orbit around adonia; the photo was captured at most distant point. this is my preferred scenario. and since the mass of adonia is apparently larger than earth's, then orbital trajectories are likely larger (farther) making a full image of the planet possible. Wink

i hope my high school physics knowledge has been of help to your dispute. Smile

and again, i'd just like to reiterate that i never did claim to be the first nation in space. Wink

OK, now that you've clarified:

Spoiler:
MATT, I ALSO WANT YOU TO BE THE FIRST IN SPACE!!! Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

btw, space is one of my favorite study areas, and I want to be an astronaut when I grow up. Wink

NASA stopped the shuttle program, so you should choose between the Russians and the Chinese. lol

I'm not Chinese, and NASA is now preparing something even more fun then the shuttle, which should be ready by the time I am Razz

Lol, but I think this convo is completely off topic from the actual discussions of this thread, anyways, Matt, I LOOOVE the pic, BUT you forgot the stars in the background Razz. I also agree you should be the first in space. You deserve that honor Razz.

thanks! and no i didn't, the focal point is too bright to include the stars. Wink

see this (rather impressive) telescopic image of saturn behind the moon. no stars. Wink

Oh ok, cool image there Razz. I thought it was always supposed to have stars, but evidently Adonia reflect more sun, er... starlight than the moon Razz.

No, he jsut said why it doesn't have stars, it doesn't have anything to do with Adonia. Razz It's because the foreground figures is too bright for you to see the stars, just like you can't see stars in the middle of manhattan Razz

Yea, I know, Adonia reflects more starlight, thus it's brighter, and it drowns out all light from the stars, I practically just said that. Razz

No, you said Adonia reflects MORE sun, it reflects the same amount as earth, relative to its size, it has nothing to do with adonia as I said, it's just how it works. Razz

See, no stars. :p

Here.. about observers I thinking about to make a clone of their country in Adonia but they're a same CJ/MD (ex: Karasem in earth and Sondonesia in Adonia)..
How about this idea?
