We can probably be pretty creative with this. I think an Adonia-like planet nearby might cause trouble. But a gas planet that could be seen by the naked eye might be cool. Razz

There can be however a planet that orbits quite close to Adonia, and appears in the sky for a certain amount of time per year.

I really want the number of planets changed. Too Sol. We can use my map and go from there.

Yeh we really should not have the same as earth. It really is far too unoriginal farfarr too unoriginal.

The problem with that is that we could have sent x-amount of spacecraft to discover it like the moon. (and could also possibly put it in the habitable zone like Adonia right now). Razz

Solar System, right now, classifies a lot more than 9 planets (Eris, Makemake, Haumea, Ceres, etc.) so we could possibly take a lot more than 9 planets and considerable amount of gas giants and rocky planets Razz

EDIT: We should propose what planets should look like as before (original thread purpose), and please no copies of the familiar ones.

Still unnamed, this is the first planet from the sun. This baby still needs a name.

Stats: this planet is 3 times bigger than Adonia (proposed), brown in colour and is hot during daytime (if you are saying that is unoriginal, you should burn yourself Razz).

Sure. Got an artist handy or would you like to go searching for stock originals that you need the artists permission to use?

I think that Carl's planet is great, maybe another smaller planet in-between that and Adonia around the size of Mercury? It would be interesting to have a mars-like planet somewhere in the system that could of had life early on that we now send robots to. It could be another reason to push into the space race. Razz

Another used to potentially be alive but totally dead now planet? I guess that's not totally unoriginal but still mimics Mars too much.

For Baudelaire's sake, I have proposed this 15-planet system. For those who would be arguing that it would be too unoriginal, there is no choice as we only have a limited knowledge of planets at the moment; we only have 8 solar system planets (if you want to add Pluto or Eris, then fine) to observe, well of course there will be people who would propose such planets; if you want to go over-tech then you should consult the data from the Spitzer telescope.

(Proposal Under Construction)
1. AD01 - "Theta": a rocky planet that has 3 times the size of Adonia. It has 1 moon (proposed).
2. AD02 - "Demeter": A silicate planet. It is 1/2 the size of Adonia.
3. AD03 - "Phaeton":
4. AD04 - Adonia: A Happy Lad
5. AD05 - "Adonis": A rocky planet in similar size to Adonia. Has a high carbon composition. Brown/black in colour. Closest planet to Adonia.
6. AD06 - "Colonus":
7. AD07 - "Juno": A rocky planet the same size as Adonia. Red in colour due to high amounts of ferrous oxide.
8. AE01 - "Ovid": A gas giant. Blue in colour (due to hydrogen and helium composition).
9. AE02 - "Decima":
10. AE03 - "Pallas":
11. AD08 - "Mimas":
12. AE04 - "Janus":
13. AE05 - "Ors":
14. AD09 - "Eros"
15. AD10 - "Ares"

Could you clarify the classifications? AD and AE? I have a feeling the AE planets are gas giants.

I like the names. The number of planets also is staggering compared to Sol, should be fun! Lots of space race fuel.

AD is rocky
AE is gas giant Razz

Proposed as "Demeter"

Planets also renamed.

I don't like the names. I like the rest though. Razz
But the names... They have to be either Sinopian (Greek) or Calibrian (Latin) and actually mean something... It was already a pain to make work 'Adonia' as a name for the planet and Althena too...

@Dejon: Nothing wrong :PCould have even latinized Peilan (Chinese) or Samastran (Indian) names or Kabier (Arabic), but with more Sinopian (Greek) or Calibrian (Latin) names.

@Alex: 'Cause germans and slavs were primitive tribes back in antiquity when astrology and astronomy were rising. The modern world uses Western Astronomy which is based on hellenistic (greek) astronomy which is itself based on babylonian astronomy, but more evolved. And I personally don't want to have to change names and astronomy conventions just for Adonia.

That's why I put it in Quotations ffs, You guys need to come up with an agreeable name for each, and btw those are Roman And Greek gods, most of them taken from Ovid's Metamorphosis (which is about sad ends for some of these gods (like being turned into a tree, one getting blinded and burned by a chariot, etc.).

There are more choices at Godchecker if you like.
