History
Who would like to have colonized New Friscia? Doesn't have to be an existing empire/monarchy. However, if so, then a detailed history of the empire's transition into another form of government must be provided.
The first ever recorded Althenian sighting of New Friscia was by ______________, a ______________ explorer who sailed along the west coast of New Friscia en route to circumnavigate the globe. He was also the first Althenian to navigate through Goodwill Pass. During the 17th century, the ______________ charted the whole of the southern coastline of the territory, but made no attempt at settlement. Following the formation of the ______________ Crown Colony of ______________, the ______________ formally claimed South Island in 1828.
In 1829, the Swan Colony was proclaimed and was officially renamed Swan Island in 1832. In 1834, the Lamare Agreement transformed Swan Island into a penal colony. Beginning in 1836, separate colonies were carved from ______________. Consequently, New Friscia broke off from South Island in 1847. New Friscia was founded as a “free province” — it was never established as a penal colony. However, from 1847 to 1848, the colony accepted convicts until a campaign by settlers led to the end of convict transportation.
The indigenous population of all of New Friscia, estimated at 350,000 at the time of Althenian settlement, declined steeply for the 150 years following, mainly due to infectious disease. The "Lost Generations" (removal of Euphemian tribal children from their families), which historians have argued could be considered genocide, may have contributed to the decline in the Indigenous population.
Between 1855 and 1890, the seven colonies individually gained responsible government, managing most of their own affairs while remaining part of ______________. On 30 March 1898, a the Union Referrendum held a vote on the naming of the future federal government of the colonies. Among the eight options, New Friscia won by gaining 21% of the votes. On 1 January 1900, federation of the seven colonies was achieved and the Federation of New Friscia was formed as a dominion of ______________. Lamare was designated the seat of government in 1901.
______________'s Statute of ______________ 1923 formally ended most of the constitutional links between New Friscia and the ______________. New Friscia adopted it in 1935. The New Friscian Constitution Act was passed in 1986, officially ending any ______________ role in the government of New Friscia.[table]
