USNW Wiki

Good Afternoon,

You might have noticed that the wiki has been quite dead recently, with only one person editing articles for the past 2 weeks or so. USNW Wiki is really important for the union; this is where we put the most detailed histories as well as important information such as the population, trade, even the latest news. I wish that members should get more active in the union wiki and post even the tiniest bit of info. Rant aside, I declare this month and the next month (May) to become USNW's Wiki's next project, Government Information Month.

Government Information Month is a USNW Wiki Project where members should add out government information; in the past members haven't figure out which government is socialist, which ones are capitalist and which ones have certain laws (for example, members know Article 9 of Okaiken but not everything else). By putting these info at the wiki, members have easy access to government information and everything.

If you have any ideas, just post them below.

I never thought of working out a political agenda for Folland. I've just thought of the basic backbone of it's leadership and ideals.

I just added a whole lot to Fraesia. The wiki went out just after I submitted it, so it barely it onto the wiki. D:

It's quite easy though; just check the established wiki pages out there and try to "View Source" or "Edit" but don't really edit it, just look at it and copypaste

Let's do it.  I've given up on editing it because of its speed.

We need to find a good host or contact forumotion if we could host our wiki ourselves.

I doubt Forumotion will let us host our own, what are the other host options?

Um we have shoutwiki to choose from, or we could ask naik if he has other options

Pardon my butting in , but if you're looking to host your wiki yourselves, I think what you'd have to do is get a webhosting account somewhere and install MediaWiki on it. That's what we've been doing at the AIN for some time now, and it works quite well (as long as our webmaster remembers to pay the bill ). You could then also host your forums there, opening up the possibility of getting away from Forumotion. I myself have a website hosted at Globat, which bills me annually. I'd be happy to tell you more if you're interested, but for now, I think it would be best if I didn't make this post sound any more like an ad than it already does.

We could try that but we are essentially waiting for this to end or something

Also LOL the domain name (USNW.NET) was purchased through GoDaddy.com and will expire in 08 July 2014. I think we are paying for the domain name, that is why we haven't paid Forumotion for 2 years straight

We use Zymic.com for some of our stuff around here.  I wonder if the wiki could be hosted on that?  Moving away from forumotion would be tedious, but probably worth it.

I'd have to agree with Zack there, hosting your own wiki is the best, but since our situation is weird, that might a problem since we get a free domain name and other free stuff from forumotion.

I've made a "temporary" wiki at www.usnw-wiki.shoutwiki.com. I think this is not a long-term solution, but it's a move

Zymic does not use a recent enough version of PHP to run MediaWiki.
