Okay, SO.

I haven't logged on for about one year now and the little Union i scoped out before has BOOMED. I mean seriously, so much activity it dwarfs my old one. And now that my old union has been dead for many, many months, and I'm very steadily wanting to get back into the wonderful world of SimCity roleplaying, your union intrigues me to no end. I've even been staring at the Application forum. However I noticed I had applied once before, quite miserably I have to admit, and believe a do-over is necessary with fresh ideas. However, I don't have a solid region to play with, as well as concrete national info to back it up. I've got some work ahead of me.

Also, I'm a little confused about Adonia. You have this gorgeous new planet to explore and even carve out borders for your country. But I don't know exactly where I can do that. It kind of looks like all the available landmass has been claimed already. Is there no more room left? If so, I can just become an Island. The region I have right now actually is an Island anyway.

I'm nowhere near ready to fill out an official application, and I'd like some info into going about it this time around. The thought of being a-part of a community again brings back the love I had for Simcity. And your tips would be a great help.

Welcome back, Archean! It's good to see you here again. Smile

As for your question about the Adonia map, there's still plenty of room left, and you can actually take land almost anywhere on the map - the nations that are white-colored are NPCs (non-player countries), which new applicants are allowed to take part or all of when choosing land for themselves. All colored nations on the other hand, are ones owned by members (the map could use a little updating, but it's unlikely that it would affect choosing territory). There are only four exceptions to the rule of "NPCs you can take land from, Member Countries you can't" rule: Trentannia, Ruteria, Linestecia, and Gamat are all "unclaimable" nations, due largely to their role in Adonian history (however, I believe taking their dependencies would be fine). Trentannia is the Adonian version of the United Kingdom, Ruteria is the Adonian Mexico, Gamat is our Iceland (but colder, I think), and Linestecia is more or less like Sweden last I checked.

Also, you might want to take a look at this membership application guide created by our current Chancellor, Chip (he's simfreak1998 on Simtropolis): [link to app. guide]

Just ask me or Kurt (Sirron Kcuhc on ST) if you have any further specific questions. I go by the username "Emperordaniel" on most sites, which includes Simtropolis; just in case you might want to contact us through PMs or otherwise over there. Our other two admins, Jon [2b2gbi] and Chip, are currently on-leave for various reasons, so don't expect a quick reply if you ask those two any questions about USNW at the moment. Razz

yeah, everything I was thinking when I read your bit, daniel answered in his. I'm also available to answer any questions and for virtually everything should be able to give you a sufficient answer. I go by willr116 on ST but I seem to remember you a few times in the SL, I also may have my evil clone in SL, Will3, but for the most part I hang out in the help desk.

P.S. When you're accepted and are doing stuff on the wiki, just PM me if you need any help with anything Smile

Thanks for the massive response in tips guys! A lot of familiar faces from the ST Chat room.

The most I can do for maps are a region shot from Region Census, as well as a basic political map of the Island. However from what I'm told, I could probably take a chunk of the mainland as well, bring my Follomer over to this world. But I'm not sure. I'm still thinking about a new country.

Game-play wise, I often times realize I'm developing these big cities with skyscrapers, although I can develop a small town here and there. Politically-wise, I'm a bit conservative. I'm BIG on near-future tech, considering my CJ has a Best Sci-Fi Trixie. But I'm not portraying beam-me-up-scotty future, more so Halo future, but not as far in time.

About the Application format, I've never taken the time to make, or even think of a coat of arms. Just flags. My idea for my country is very minimalist. The region isn't very big, so I'm going for a small collection of quaint, modern day cities with a developed infrastructure.

A basic political map is good, as long as it shows the area you are taking Razz

I think it is okay if you have a semi-uber-futuristic CJ, as long as your stats are very realistic. Of course you can also do sci-fi stuff here, like what Dan has done a few times before (Bonelia).

For the coat of arms, you can ask us if you do need help, or just grab it off the internet (like mine! Razz)

You do have great ideas and you are a great addition to the Union Very Happy

You shouldn't need a CoA, I didn't on my Ambassadorial Application at first. Course I may just have skated through on that one :p

Well I've picked out an area. I decided to go with a continent that wasn't taken up as much.

Oh and I'm a very western styled city developer. I hope that's acceptable for the Itzamna continent.

I picture Itzama more south american but anywhere's fine. I had an Irish nation with just about everything mushed together right where Nagoya should've been Razz

But if you choose Itzamna I hope to roleplay with you as I'm just across the sea on Carreon Smile

Although Itzamna isn't probably the ideal location for Follomer (as Will said, it's more of a South American place climate and culture-wise), I don't see why you shouldn't be there if you feel like it. Smile

Actually, I've taken Follomer, and performed minor surgery on it to get the name, Follmera. My basic historic background for it is a Scandinavian colony gone Independent and flourished. Not sure how that would fit in this world though, but if Itzamna is a South American type of land, that seems fitting that a "European" colony was founded there.

Plus I am actually half Norwegian! Very Happy

Also, my capital city is coming along, slowly. D: The game's crashed twice tonight already, lol. And I always forget something when I make a city, and this time it was the light rail. Oh well. I'll have images soon to go with my App!

It is a law that allows the cabinet, in the event of a possible union merger (in this case with AFDES), to offer terms to the union considering merger such as: offering open minister positions and allowing the creation of new internal organizations or appointing new admins, and for the executive department to accept the former members of said union bypassing the normal application process, allowing the merger to go on without major consumption of time and make it as smooth as possible. We have been talking about merges with AFDES for a while now, and since Kenny was in it, he didn't have to go through an application process.
I just got done reading this about Kenny's App. So if I interpret correctly, doesn't that mean since I used to be a head of the AFDES I get Full Membership regardless? Skeptical

I'm real close! Important parts of the Capital city are almost complete so the App won't be too far behind. After I have the city built, I'll move onto suburbs, towns, ports and airports. And also the much loved roleplaying.

Checklist so far:

Flag: YES
CoatofArms: YES
Maps: YES
Images: Almost
Background Info: My brain says Yes

Almost there.

Like I told you, I think you could take the law as a word for word and become a full member through bypassing the normal application process. Smile Although you might possibly have to use Follomer to do it and change your nation once you join. :\

Well, congratulations Archean, it looks like you've secured yourself a full membership here Smile

We just need your flag, national motto, a short one-sentence description of your nation (like "See Follmera and its technological marvels" or something), and a map of the location, and you're set Very Happy
